This is a great practice tool. From the beginner to the advanced. It has many more features than what is listed. The discription states 60 games and excersises, but just in the music game challenges alone there are 60. A kinda guitar hero type thing that you play patterns of different styles of music. It's cool. There are close to sixty other modes & parameters. Different time signatures, note displacement, multiple rythms, and one mode I've been diggen is the "Follow Me" feature where you set the time sig. & tempo and you play a rythm along with the metronome, and then the metronome stops for a few measures and starts back again. You find out if your on or off.It comes with two foot pedals for the hi-hat and base drum, plus sticks. The only con I would say is the LCD screen does not illuminate which is why I didn't rate all fives. I mean "Come On" Alesis! "BUT still a worth while purchase".

Very Disappointing
Poor quality, horrible instructions, the bass drum and snare pedals are included but are marked in the book as optional extras and there is no instructions for how the unit works.

It has some games and songs to play along with.
After reading the reviews on this exact same unit and model on several other websites I was reluctant to order it. But there are not a lot of affordable choices for these e-drums. This unit has the same problem as the other people had with theirs. There is only a very faint sound of a snare drum when you hit the sticks on the pad. All the other sounds are very loud including the metronome and the bass drum and high hat. But the sound from the actual drum itself is almost none existant. This is with the sound all the way up using good headphones and also tried with a good ampifier. All the sounds are loud except the drum itself. And that is why we bought it! This is the same issue that has come up in reviews on the net for the exact same unit and model number. So it is a known problem. Also please be aware that this unit REQUIRES either headphones or an amp. There is only external sound of the metronome which is very loud.
There is no value in having to talk to 2-3 people before they will replace a brand new item I have only had 3 days and is not working. I feel I should have been sent a replacement immedeatly.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
The variety of sounds is fun to play with. The follow me, & pattern settings help with poly rhythm work. Nice variety of metronome sounds. It is a good tool to have in your bag of tricks.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
For half a hundred or so, you get a good sounding, responsive pad, a pair of sticks and two foot switches. Snare, bass, and cymbal sound are pretty good. And the pad has a good response.
One shortcoming is that you can't adjust the relative volume of the pad, the sound produced by the kick pedal, and the sound produced by the hi-hat pedal. If you just use earphones, it's not a problem. However, if you'd like to use this as a minimalist e-drum set, the pad is quite lower in volume than the other two (remember, even though they're labelled kick and hi-hat, you can adjust the sound to any of those the unit can produce... so, for instance, you could set one as a small tom and one as a large tom.).
One nice thing is that the kick and hi-hat pedals are simply momentary on-off switches. So, there's an opportunity to "roll your own" pedal. That's good, because the kick pedal, for instance, doesn't feel anything like a real-life kick. You can also roll your own cymbal with a low cost piezo element and a piece of hardboard (instead of spending as much for Alesis' e-cymbal as you did for this unit!).
REMEMBER ... this unit doesn't have an audio speaker so you either have to use earphones or plug it into some sort of amplifier.
All in all, a nice unit.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
I bought this pad to keep in the family room, and to learn some drum riffs. It's a great little pad with lots of sound! I know my son will enjoy practicing on it as well!
Only thing I didn't like was the headphone volume was low even turned all the way up. I need to try another pair of headphones to make sure it's not them.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
Right out of the box it was easy to set up and use. Took a minute to figure out that the tiny speaker on the top right side was mostly decorative and you need to plug this into an AMP or headphones to hear. Also, the black rubbery pad surface started to show wear after 15 minutes of light use. Overall, very good practice product for the novice. A bit tricky to figure out initially due to scant instructional manual included with e-practice pad. Ok product.

Everything needed was there - only added headphones.
Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
I bought this for my son for Christmas when I saw it as the Stupid Deal of the Day. He is an avid drummer (college age). I will be returning it. His comment was that it seemed like a toy.

I bought this as a gift for my 10 yr. old grandson. Great teaching aid and practice pad for an up and coming drummer.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
On the plus side, the operation is fairly intuitive. It is ready to use out of the box.Touch controlled volume allows for some nuancing and the volume control on top helps. On the downside, the bass drum and hi hat sounds generated by the included foot pads are much louder than the pad struck sounds. It would be nice to have additional voices or be able to download/input voices. I have not used the tempo and practice features much, but they seem to be helpful for the beginning learning musician. Overall, it made for a great Stupid Deal purchase.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
I really like the sound and was surprised that it came with two foot pedals and that it was multi-timbral, but would have liked the kick drum input to have been a trigger input instead of just a switched input, therefore it is always full velocity. I am using it in live performance because it sounds and performs great.

Comments about Alesis E-Practice Pad:
it does not tell you that you need headphones to listen to yourself play or a amp.
