Alesis

The ultimate electronic percussion interface.

The Alesis Trigger I/O is a powerful
electronic percussion interface designed to bridge the gap between the ultimate control and feel of a real drum performance and the extensive capability of software and hardware sound modules. The Trigger I/O converts playing from your favorite percussion interface, whether electronic drum pads or acoustic drum triggers, into MIDI note messages. Featuring both MIDI out and USB connectivity, the Trigger I/O can be used to play sounds on synths, drum modules, or on your computer--straight from your drumkit. Bundled with FXPansion's BFD Lite--a professional software drum module with high-quality acoustic and electronic drum kit libraries--the Trigger I/O will get you up and rocking in no time.

Positioning
With ten trigger inputs and its versatile MIDI out functions, the Trigger I/O is the perfect interface for musicians who want to expand the scope of their current equipment to include control over computers, samplers, synths, or other MIDI modules. Its intuitive interface and 20 programmable presets allow for easy setup and quick user operation. Plus, the bundled FXPansion BFD Lite software provides an additional source of creative material.

Applications
The Trigger I/O can be used by any percussionist at any level in their home, studio, or during a live performance to control various software and hardware sound modules, all while maintaining the feel of a real percussion performance. Additionally, the mounting holes for an optional drum stand mount make the Trigger I/O adaptable to any environment.

This trigger module is decent at best. Ive owned many drum modules in the past such as the d4 dm5 which are also Alesis. Sad to say that 10 year technology triggered better than the i/O.This machine has great features, for the money it blows the Roland tmc6 out of the water, on features. Which is priced higher and doesn't allow as many trigger inputs. Wasn't to impressed with its sensitivity neither. It was on the same page as the I/o. The Roland TD-10 and 20 are outrageously expensive but trigger perfectly. Im going to try out the new Alesis d10 module with usb see if it triggers nice with SD2.0 ill let ya'll know

Great unit for those with some midi experience

This is a great little unit, well made and basically does the job. The unit requires some knowledge of midi, but not alot. For those who want to plug this in and be instantly drumming, this may not be for you. It took me quite awhile to fine tune the unit(3-4 hours) which required setting threshold/gain/x-talk/velocity curves paramaters and mapping out my pads to midi note numbers. Once this was done I could noticeably see a great difference in dynamics, it just felt more real. Basically the unit gives you greater control to really fine tune midi dynamics as opposed to using a dm6 module or similiar as a midi I/O unit. Also, this is not a a sound module as some might think...its just an I/O trigger that can be used to control a sound module or, if using a computer to control your drum software(BFG, SP2, Battery..etc.)

I was very excited about getting this product to replace my drum modules for MIDI interface. I was soon disappointed with the lack of sensitivity. If you are looking to do some simple home recording in MIDI, this is the product for you, but if you are playing more intricate parts, snare rolls etc. get a Roland drum module, much more reliable triggering!

Excellent trigger i/o for people who know how to use vst's, midi, and current recording equipment!  If you have no prior knowledge with advanced midi then I suggest not buying as it may be too complicated for some without prior knowledge of mapping etc.

The first one had to go back. New one works great. Just so you know, you can hook up 20 triggers. Each trigger input has a TRS connection for a dual zone trigger or two individual triggers. good value for the money
