I just received this item yesterday. And today I have used it and I succeeded. It works just how I thought it would work. Its Awesome! Here are the easy things you have to do:First, take your drumhead and place it down on a piece of cardboard big enough to cover where the port hole you desire to put. Then, get the hole cutter and set it to how big you want your porthole to be. It shows the number of inches in the bottom. Place the cutter where you want your port hole. After placing it on the drumhead (make sure the drumhead is upside down) apply enough pressure so when you turn the hole cutter you can hear the cardboard ripping. And lastly, complete the whole circle and now you have a perfect circular port hole on your bass drum.Have fun with your Bass Drum O's hole cutter!

First off, I thought this was going to be bigger, secondly I thought this was actually going to CUT SOMETHING! Not only did this not stay in place while I was trying to cut a circle, but it also decided to not even cut the freakin bass drum head, much less a piece of paper. I honestly dont know how these other people got it to work but it would not cooperate for me. This is a good tool if you want to cut uneven and jagged edges. Lastly it leaves a 3 cm distance from the edge (for me a Drum O) so as if putting on the rings wasnt hard enough, they had to leave a distance between the edge and the hole so its basically impossible to put on. If anything I would say go to Home Depot and buy a box cutter, because that is exactly what I used to finish the job it hadnt even started.

Comments about Bass Drum O's Hole Cutter:

This products works great. I used this to cut a hole to fit a Bass Drum O, which it did well. The only thing that I could think of as a con isn't even that bad: it's just that the cutting surface needs to be softer, even, and needs to support a fair amount of pressure without damaging the head or the blade. I used a sheet of cardboard which did the job though it didn't make it easy. That being said, if you want a ported bass drum head this is the product to use.

How to use this to cut

            By

            from Undisclosed

Comments about Bass Drum O's Hole Cutter:

The Bass Drum O's Hole Cutter is a great product and I am very impressed with it. Here is my direction:1. Find a big cardboard (I use the cardboard that my new DW head came in with) or just use a big enough cardboard that can hold the entire drum head2. Lay the cardboard on the floor and place the kick drum head, front face down, on it.3. When cut, press real firm and hard on the blade so that you hear the cutting crushing noise that the cardboard underneath makes. This tells you that the blade did cut through the skin of the drum and also cutting the cardboard. Make several rounds, making sure the blade goes through the skin and cuts the cardboard underneath as well. Voila, you just made a perfect circle.

            Very Disappointing

            By

            from Undisclosed

Comments about Bass Drum O's Hole Cutter:

I bought this after a show where my bass drum sounded horrible because it couldn't be properly miced. It is very simple and it cuts great... until the last half of the circle. Then when the head has no tension it hangs down with the head and doesn't cut. In the end I used my moms circle cutter for pictures which worked much, much better. I wasted my money but I also wasted a drum head and my time I could have used actually drumming. I am very disappointed with this.
