Comments about ddrum D2 7-Piece Drum Set with Free Sabian Crash Cymbal:
I would recommend it to anybody in the market for a set. With a few extras and regular maitenance this can be a quality drumset to last the years.
For the price you cant go wrong with this kit. With it being a 7 piece, and it comes with cymbals and hardware, it has everything you will need to play a gig right out of the box.
Definately worth the money but has some issues. I have had this set for about 4 months and im not regretting it one bit. The heads are quite chincy but what do you expect for this kind of kit with that price tag, had to sacrifice somewhere. After about 2 weeks i went thru the 8 and the 10, my snare drum is not far behind. The ddrum cymbals are junk but at least you have something to practice on, same with the hi-hats. The bass drum sounds pretty good, have been able to tune it up and have good results with micing it on the pa, i am a light hitter and am not using a double bass but if you were planning to I would order a new bass drum head as soon as you order the kit becuase mine is also about to give out. My toms (before they gave out) sounded decent but very ringy. I purchased some remO's for it and the problem was solved, drums sound good with a few upgrades.
Great Value
Comments about ddrum D2 7-Piece Drum Set with Free Sabian Crash Cymbal:
Overall, this is a great set to start drumming with. a great value for the price, just a few problems that can be easily solved, and you have yourself a great kit.
I've owned this kit for 2 months now, and i think that this set has everything you need to get you started out with drumming-if your a soft hitter. The shells are very warm sounding with right heads(i use Remo Pinstripes. You-re going to have to change the heads within a week and a half due to them being single ply and very weak.). The Sabian SBR 16" Crash cymbal is a very bright sounding beginner cymbal. The Sound Percussion stand that comes with is very durable and a nice touch. But the stands and cymbals made by Ddrum aren't the greatest. the 14" hihats it came with sound very dingy closed and horrible open, and they dent after only a few hits. the hi-hat stand is also very weak, as it locks up and closes on you at random times. the 17"crash/ride cymbal is the same way, dingy and dents in seconds, plus the straight cymbal stand it comes is VERY weak and the legs have to be completely extended and the stand cant be too high for it to stand rigid. If your a beginner, a sofet hitter and you're not afraid to spend a few 100 bucks to upgrade some things, it's actually pretty decent.
The quality of the shells are great, comparable to all other entry level kits out there. The quality of the heads is very low due to them being so weak, but every drum set is like that unless otherwise specified as having name brand heads. The Sabian SBR Crash is a very high quality beginner cymbal, as expected by Sabian. The Ddrum cymbals and stands are low quality due to them being dingy and weak. they are a must to upgrade if you want good sounding cymbals. The hardware(Tension rods, Snare Throw-off and tom stands)is pretty good. durable and sturdy for a hard hitter(like me), although about 2 months in to having the product, the throw-off wouldnt stay closed and hold the snare-wire. The 6 pairs of sticks it comes with are 5B, and are very flimsy if you hit hard. Get a few pairs of ProMark sticks. The throne is very sturdy and holds a good amount of weight. The stick bag is very handy for lessons/gigs.
The value of this kit with such a low price is very high, even with a few problems. If you have no problem spending an extra 300 dollars to upgrade heads, the hihats, the crash/ride and stands, then this is a great place to start your kit.
