I just got this drumset and it was amazing. The heads are not very great, so you might want to replace them. The hardware is nice, and I like the lock system they have on it. The hi-hat stand should be able to go high but it doesnt. I like how they set up the d-mounting system its easier and faster to place on your tom. All of the toms have good tone but they could sound better with differnt heads(and manufactering heads are usually not good). The bass drum sounds nice you just need a pillow inside of it. The Planet Z cymbals it comes with now are better than i thought they would be. They are like other cymbals that come with drumset that are just plain bad. They actually have a good sound to them. but I didn't understand why they gave you the Plant Z Z3 pro pack (which comes with 14" hi-hats and 18" ride/crash) when the drum set comes with another cymbal stand. when the Planet Z Z4 cymbal pack (which comes with a 14" hi-hat, 16" crash and a 20" ride) is 10 more dollars and come with the cymbal to put on the extra cymbal stand. But you can always buy the other one no big deal. overall everything is nice unless you like your snare drum high, because the snare is 6.5 and it sits high. but if you really want this set get it its worth every penny

Okay first off, I ordered this kit cuz like most musicians I'm on a tight budget and the features sounded incredible, the price sounded incredible, and the reviews sounded incredible. Well I ordered the kit in the Chill finish, and when I received it, set it up and started playing, I was blown away, the sound was indeed amazing. In total I "HAD" the kit for less than 30 days, Because the sound was awesome, but when my band booked studio time it wasn't until I was packing them up to realize that the paint on the hardware was chipping off so quick and easily, all you had to do was touch it and bam, big chunk of paint comes off, and under the paint what do I see, nothing but rusted scrap metal, and the pvc wrap that goes around the shell was coming undone, it was just ridiculous, so that my fellow drummers is why you see such an unbelievable price, It's cuz DDRUM just put really awesome finishes on junk! Junky hardware, cheap shells, you can just tell it was cheaply made, I strongly reccomend checking out the kits from Gretsch, cuz those seem to be the only kits that aren't beginner's kits that look professionally put together, currently I am waiting for Musician's Friend to get my Ddrum kit back so I can order the Gretsch Catalina Ash kit, a 6 piece kit for only 100 bones more than the ddrum diablo's. Seriously reconsider this product if you are serious about having long lasting drums that won't start chipping and coming undone in less than 30 days!!!!

These drums are... ok.

By thetacosface

I've had this drum kit for several years and they're... ok. I put the snare in storage shortly after getting the kit because it was just unresponsive and had a poor sound. The kick on the other hand has a huge sound; thumbs up. It's a sharp looking drum set but it's easy to see the smaller details were all but left out. The shells (especially the kick drum) have exposed wood for the fact that the pvc wraps have slid around. The heads will need to be replaced. Finally, the hardware is nice; thumbs up.

Overall, this drum kit is ok but I would only recommend for a starter kit.

i got my diablo last year, its held up well and sounds awesome, i added my own hardware and cymbals to it, so i got it for the drums to be honest, advice would be to replace the standard ddrum heads, they don't do it any favors, you will notice a massive difference in tone and a beautiful mellow sound if you do, i recommend remo's !! :P

Very nice intermediate kit

The bass pedal and stock heads are not so great, the snare is decent, but everything else is excellent. Even the hi-hat stand is pretty good. It's a shame they discontinued this set, as it WAS one of the best values on the site. The toms are good, not perfect, but very satisfying. The hardware is solid. The bass drum is top notch... my friend paid twice as much for his Tama Rockstar kick drum and is envious of mine :) With a replacement kick pedal, snare, heads, and a few decent cymbals, this kit sounds great and is sturdy enough to last for many years.

Great Set

I got this set last week and I am completely amazed with it! Not only does it look awesome but it sounds amazing! The stock heads are ok. You can use them if you prefer the higher tone, but if you really want to make a statement with these drums get some new heads and show people what these drums can do. Great drums, great price!!Don't pass this up!

it's good it's goooooood

By I am el capitano

from Calexico, CA

this is the deal with this kit, it sounds amazing, even with stock heads, but I tell you that you'll spend much time tune 'em up, but at the end you'll get a very good tune from them... the advise that I can give is that you have to tight up your heads one entire night and at the next day tune them so they will be in a great form the be tuned... tune them up and go drumming!!! ... the sound is amazing, the tom is very warm and the floor toms give you a very delicious sound, and the kick drum is kinda "thump" sound pretty peculiar... you won't regret about buying this set !!!

Thumbs up.

Well, I have had this kit for ages, and despite what others have said, nothing is breaking, Chipping or peeling. The thing I don't like about this kit is that the Stock heads don't sound too great, and also the high floor tom could have been slightly smaller. Apart from that, it is a great kit for people coming off a beginner kit, or pro's who want a good cheap kit.

well worth the cash

By fredxday

for a cheap kit, its well worth the cash only thing really wrong with the kid is the heads that are included are pretty crappy. the coating comes off on my drumsticks and gets white marks all over my cymbals (mostly hi hats and ride) I got the Tantrum kit. I love the white hardware

ohh ya

I just bought this thing and have been tuning it up and it sounds sweet. the high tom has perfect tone. ive been playing for 3 years now and learned how to play on my bros pearl custom session, compaired to it its got great feel.the only problems that i have are that the tom-tom is to high up and the snare stand is also. the bass sounds amasing but too clunkey(if that makes any sense) with the pre muffled heads so replace those asap. other than that its freakin sweet

great kit for the money! seed your heads!

I just put together the ddrum black w/ red hardware diablo punx 5 pc for my friend who is just starting out playing.pretty easy assembly.the rack toms and floor toms sound close to my 1968 ludwig. I have played all kinds of kits and every drum kit has it's own voice.the ddrum kick booms and is very easy to tune lower for hard rock or higher/tighter for jazz/funk. the reason people are having such a hard time with these kits is because they don't take their time and more than likley are beginners trying to play through the drum instead of learning how to tune it and pull the tone and volume out of the drum {like john bonham}. you play what you play. and if its bad from the get go it seems we jump to the conclusion that the instrument is bad.{of course there are the occasional made on friday lemons},but if you are having trouble it's because you have never owned it to know it.so ask someone who does know. like the company Ddrum! most of all keep playing!

You cant beat the deal

Ok, I was kinda scared buying this set just for the fact of it being so cheap and some of the reviews. Alot of people are saying the stock heads are horrible, you just have to know how to tune. And the snair, i could'nt be more happy with it it has an amazing amount of pop to it. Just take the time to tune thats all... Recently i've been using my friends forum series pearl and i'de choose this set over the pearl anyday. Amazing product
