I couldn't believe it when ddrum, the makers of the finest acoustic drums in the world, decided to make this Vinnie Paul signature kit. I live in an old VW van and I painted "Vinnie Paul" across the side of my van to demonstrate my adulation for the guy. I have been pan handling for 2 years to save up enough money to buy this kit. In fact, I thought that the kit was worth the 12K MSRP so I went ahead and paid that. The salesperson was shocked. Since I live in a van, I have no were to play them so I just bolted them all over the outside of my van so the whole world can see how great I think Vinnie Paul is. Thanks Vinnie for money well spent!
Once this kit was released by ddrums I just had to try it. Had to dip into my 401k to afford this hunk of wood! Along with a few minor adjustments at home, mainly not eating, I was now able to say I was the proud owner of a Vinnie Paul Set :) Unfortunately the rent came around, little Eric's dental bills came, and my nasty divorce with my wife made me part ways with this magnificent to look at kit. You will always be remembered Vinnie Paul kit by ddrums!
When I first saw this set was becoming available I knew I just had to have it. Not even debatable. I immediatley opted to sell my house, then my youngest kid into the slave trade. I was a little leary that I might have made a poor decision until the set showed up at the front door of the mission. After fighting off my homeless bretheren I was able to safely unbox and behold the beauty of the beast. This kit may sound like other drums 1/10 the price, but it isn't Vinnie's kit, understand?. Being the owner of this kit is the culmination of my existence. Everything else is irrelavant. Thank's DDrum!!
I ordered one from a different retailer as soon as Ddrum released it. When it arrived, it took two UPS drivers to deliver. When I took all the drums out of the box I realized that Vinnie Paul himself was inside one of the 24x24 Bass drums, and his ego was in the other! Now the square sized drums make so much sense! We hung out all day, and he showed me how he's so awesome, both as a drummer and as a person. Then he told me how to make hardware out of PVC and cymbals out of trash can lids in order to afford his drum set. He also explained that the crappy heads that came on his drum set were okay because "..most of us metal guys use triggers anyway..". Now I'm going to buy some DDrum triggers! Thanks Ddrum! and Thanx to my new bff Vinnie Paul!
I bought the drums because I love Vinnie, and I needed a place to house the illegals who are working on my house. The two 24x24 bass drums are perfect ... just enough space for the crew and their equipment. Did I mention the drums sound great? Thanks ddrum!
Because this set is so new and different, I sold my old Ludwig Octa-Plus to get it. The Ludwig sounded so '80s with its toms the same depth as their diameters. This Vinnie Paul set has the new happening sound, on account of its square tom sizes. Much better. Worth every penny.
The bass drum was so big I couldn't get it in the house. Sounds nice though, I had to make cymbals out of aluminum foil because I was broke after buying this kit. Which reminds me, I think the next house payment is due soon... Oh and I had to use my gutters to make hardware. Worst decision I ever made.
I got a couple of these, one for my practice studio, and one for my bathroom. I couldn't afford any hardware with them, so I got all the hangers from my closets and twisted them up in a custom tom mount--one of my t-shirts is stuck in it. I took out all the pipes in my house to make a rack. I use CB cymbals with them. Neal Peart is the best drummer and this kit is almost just like his.
