I was using a Roc n Soc Nitro throne. I always felt that I had to use to many core muscles to stabilize myself when playing on the Roc n Soc. I am a heel up player who has played for 30+ years. So I purchased the DW5100. Set it up so that the seat is fixed, does not spin. I am 5'5", 150 lbs and it adjusted low enough for me. As soon as I started playing I could feel the difference. I was no longer concerned with what my seat was doing, I could play with confidence again, relaxed with my mind only concerned about what I was trying to play. An Amazing difference. I bought the Roc n Soc because I thought it was the best. Great Throne just not the right throne for me. I am very happy with the DW5100, Great Quality, adjustments are easy and solid. The seat is very comfortable, not to soft and not too hard. After an hours practice no pain what so ever. I had to stretch out after playing on the Roc n Soc because of the strain it put on me. I had the Roc n Soc for 3 years, I plan to have the DW5100 a long long time. I may even purchase another just to have a spare. Great stool, definitely worth the price. Check it out and see if it is right for you!

Good throne for short sessions but this thing caves in, becomes indented and leaves an imprint after about an hour or so. It becomes very uncomfortable and is not very good for the back. I'm also only about 145 lbs.

good simple stool. sturdy and easy to adjust. much cheeper than the Air Lift Thrones. Cant use the clamp style especially if you have different drummers reseting hights.

The legs wore through the rubber feet and poked through them in less than 2 years. Surprisingly poor quality from DW. Avoid this throne.

Comments about DW 5100 Standard-Height Throne:

I have only been drumming a short time. I replaced a cheap wobbly throne that had a thin seat and single brace legs. Once I purchased this seat, I was able to stop worrying about falling over and concentrate on playing. I went to the shop and tried out the Pork Pie and OCP thrones first, but they seemed too "Squishy", felt like I rocked around too much. I sat on this one and it was very firm. My posture and playing both improved immediately.

I bought this throne to replace one I used at church, and have a Roc-N-Soc at home. I found that I much prefer playing on this than the Roc-N-Soc. I'm also a big dude (6'2", 330 lbs), and can tell you that this throne is solid. I busted the one I used at church, and this holds up much better. It's really comfortable and very durable for the price point, and I had no problems whatsoever with the adjustments.

Don't buy this. I bought this thing and the spindle twists into the base meaning that it get lower while you play. I returned it to the manufacturer but they claim it wasn't happening and sent it back still defective. It happens to me, the locking nut does not hold. It eventually loosens and the spindle starts twisting into the base lowering the height. Extremely frustrating. A waste of money, I have to go buy something else. Don't buy it.

Comments about DW 5100 Standard-Height Throne:

I like this throne because for the money, it has a fairly comfortable seat. This seat is more padded then the comparably priced ones I tried out. It also has a slightly larger diameter. Its very sturdy and easy to adjust. I am able to sit back and play double-bass, heel-up while staying fairly balanced.

I just picked this beast up today. Very stable, no wobble at all. Usually if you want a BIG STRONG THRONE it weighs a ton, but not this one! The padding is nice but it isn?t "super plush". If you?ve got the cash get this, you will not be disappointed

I just bought this throne to replace my 20 dollar throne. This throne features infinite height adjustment and uses memory locks to make breaking down easy. The seat isnt squishy but isnt hard. It is super sturdy and its the first piece of DW hardware I own but it shows a lot about the quality of the 5000 series.
