I actually purchased this for my grown drummer son. He was thrilled! He would use his single practice pad in the house so it wouldn't make noise. Now he has a 5-pad set and really gets a nice quiet practice in more frequently.

the gibraltar 5 piece pad set is great,i live in a apt.and work nights, and this set is ssooo quiet[my dog sleeps next to me while i practice]i used a old single kick and a hi hat with some crappy no name hats. [with the HQ sound off for hi hat]and my neighbors havent complaned since i bought in.it weighs 23 lbs and very portable and is gibraltar "rock solid"if you are thinking about buying this it's a no brainer...buy it!!!! [i wonder if you could put drum triggers on in for a ultra-lite eletronic kit now there's an idea...huh]

This Gibraltar practice pad set is a solid product, no adjustment problems at all; I use it to practice rudiments and worm up exercises and it is very convenient and easy to setup. I'm planing on getting one extra pad (a bigger one) for the "snare" because I'm using the lower left pad as hit-hat. Overall great product.

I love this set, and I don't know what I'd do without it. The pads are rubber so they feel like rubber pads, but the sound is nearly silent. Much quieter than the Remo practice pads, and also much more durable. Also, adjusting the pad placement is simple and there's a lot of flexibility as to where you move the pads to. About my only complaint is that the rack-tom pads are mounted on a single bar of metal, so they're locked in at the same angle - although you can adjust the angle of the bar so that's good. Bottom line is, it's a great price for a great piece of equipment (it's Gibraltar so you know it's rock-solid!) and it's nice to be able to practice at 2 in the morning if I want without the cops coming. (-:
