I bought this throne for keyboard and guitar, as the benches they sell specifically for keyboard players are quite sad. This throne rocks! (not literally) I put it together in, like, I dunno, ONE MINUTE, and it has stayed firmly together now since then, which was about 9 months ago. I sit on it every day, too. The hydraulic height adjustment is a dream, just like a high-end office chair. This product seemed mighty expensive to me until I got it and sat on it, and now I see it's worth far more. I totally recommend it. Oh, and they (Gibralter) say you can't add a backrest to this model, but the useless bracket welded onto the bottom would suggest otherwise, so I will probably take my chances and get the backrest. If it doesn't work, I can always modify the bracket to make it work.

Hydraulics suck

Ok, like I said, it's comfortable, but if you're sitting flat at the bottom of the adjustment range in the middle of a song because it won't stay where it's supposed to....well, you get the picture. I'd rather have a slightly less comfy throne that stays put.
This is a comfy and reasonably priced throne, but the hydraulics failed after only a few months. Very disappointed in that I have to clamp it into position just so I can use it. No more hydraulics for me, I'll take a screw post throne any day over this.

Comments about Gibraltar Hydraulic Moto Throne:
This throne is very well made. I just received this throne 2 days ago, and played 3 gigs with it. Very sturdy, the large feet keep it still, and the seat is comfortable. My thighs and ass did not hurt at all after playing on this throne.
I have a sensative lower back, and I especially love the hydraulic seat and the little bit of " bounce " that this seat gives me when I play. My back feels great ! I'm very happy with this product right out of the box.
Not only does the little bit of " bounce " relieve pressure on your back and bottom, but I found the " bounce " extremely helpful with achieving awesome peppy groves with comfort ! Bravo.....
Really nice

I bought the GHMT going by the reviews that I read. I have a Sound Percussion HMT, which I was trying to find. As soon as I sat on the GHMT I noticed it wobbled. Also, the seat is much more firm then the SP. Sorry, but I have a great throne to compare it too.

Super comfortable seat. It gets bouncy when I ride the high hat with my left foot or use double bass. I think if I could do it over I would buy the one with the big screw adjustor. Over all though good throne!!

i got this throne pretty much because i'm lazy and i love it! i haven't had any problems with the hydraulics and it's easy to set up, it is also a nice price but if you're really lazy u might want to get one with a back rest i didn't get one since you can't really play drums while leaning back anyway its a good buy.
Comments about Gibraltar Hydraulic Moto Throne:
I love this throne for it's comfort and excellent durability. I move around a bit while playing and this throne moves with you except you don't notice it at all. It's professional quality for sure and it's at a great price. I personally don't weigh a lot (165) but I can easily sit on this thing for hours. And of course adjustments and simple and can accommodate all reasonable heights. Great buy in my book. I love it.

This is a comparison of the R-n-S Nitro to the G.B. Hydra-Moto. I am 5?7? ? 170. I tired both of these out at the local D.Shop. The R-n-S has the firmer cushion (Guaranteed to not bottom out). To me this is less comfortable then the Moto. Both of the stools were floor models so they both had had some time to be broken in. The Nitro is also stiffer then the Hydraulic. If you don?t do a lot of bouncing (think Steve Jordan) while playing you probably won?t notice a difference between either of these and a none Hydra/Nitro base. A heavier (bigger) person may like the R-n-S because of the firmer cushion and stiffer base. Last, IMO, the clutch that holds the stool to the base is better on the Hydra-Moto. Both are Pro quality and worth the $.
