The backrest attachment is simple, robust, and looks good on my Tama 1st Chair throne, which I purchased at least 15 years ago. It provides a nice upgrade for an existing, high quality drum throne which doesn't need to be replaced. Although I found that it was a little bit pricey, I am happy with the product and don't feel that it was waaay to overpriced. I have only had the backrest for a couple of weeks and have not used it in a live setting. I'm hoping that it will be as sturdy as my drum throne, and last for a long, long time!
The parts are simple and solid, and it adjusts in height. One thing that is not completely worked out is that the distance of the backrest from the chair can't be adjusted any closer, but I haven't found this to be a major problem, although, it might be nice, on certain ocaissions, if that were possible.
Sturdy build, attaches to the seat post well, non-damaging, and yet, flexible when you lean on it. I don't know how much weight it can withstand tho, I am not very heavy myself.
I think its a good value, considering the quaility, but, I do think that it is a bit too expensive. I would have been happier to pay $45 instead of $60.

This back rest looks nice, feels nice, but if you lean back, or put more than a few pounds stress, it bends at the curve. Takes very little pressure to bend it back in place but the same thing will happen again. Pity really...looks stronger than it is. I'm taking mine to a welder to have beefed up and rechromed.

Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
I am not as young as I use to be and my back was bothering me after playing. I needed some back support and was thinking of replacing a perfectly good throne. I was looking at new thrones with back rests when I saw this. I tried it, it saved me money, it works well and was easy to install. What else can be said. I saw it at lower price and MF more than matched the price. A good purchase.

Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
The Gibraltar Universal Back Rest is an awesome product! I had lower back surgery in 2010 and have since had difficulty playing drums for longer than an hour without my lower back hurting. Being able to lean back during performances has made playing fun once again. You will not be disappointed, even if your back is healthy.
Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
Good value
Good attachment. Just be careful where you attach it to. Some drum thrones have cheap metal work, like mine, and it bent one evening as I leaned back. Attach it to a stronger part of the "stem".

Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
It didn't occur to me beforehand, but maybe it should have: this backrest has changed my style, and for the better, i think. I feel that my footwork is lighter and quicker, and that i am distributing my stickwork over more of the kit.
the universality of this thing is very useful to me, as it fits both my practice throne and my gig throne. when i think about it, though, i'll probably buy another one for the other throne.
Strong enough for me. I am 6 foot 1 inch, weigh about 185 and feel very well supported.
For me, with back troubles and long dance gigs, this thing is invaluable.
Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
Another great product by Gibralter! This back rest can be mounted to any drum throne as I have two different ones (Gibralter & Pulse). I should have purchased one years ago since this is a real back saver after playing for many hours. The only downside is limited adjustments up/down and front/back, but otherwise can't beat it for the price.
Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
Now I can lean back with support if I need to. This backrest works with both of the thrones I use. It is easier to put on my Pearl thone than my Gibraltar, go figure.
Works on my Pearl and Gibraltar thrones
So far so good
It was kind of a pain to put on the Gibraltar throne.
Comments about Gibraltar Universal Drum Throne Back Rest Attachment:
I bought one of these and recently ordered another one. I am a diesel mechanic and work 10 hours a day of usually tough labor. These provide excellent support on my tired back after work. If you don't use it while playing, you can't beat a backrest to lean on while having a beer between sessions. As for the other review with the "bend" I say would say it flexes with weight but I find while playing I would rather have it flex than be a wall and interupt my flow. By the way I am about 170 lbs. I absoulutely love these!
