Responds with the feel of an acoustic drum while achieving virtually silent operation.

The Hart Professional Series Snare Drum is a solid-feeling, fast and accurate triggering electronic snare drum. It features a dual-trigger design (head and rim) with full position-sensing capabilities. Patented Kontrol Screen Magnum exclusive silent mesh drumheads and patented TE3.2 (Transparent Energy Transfer) trigger technology allow the drum to respond like an acoustic drum without the acoustic volume.

Many people have commented that Hart's Kontrol Screen heads feel even better than an acoustic drum, and Hart has eliminated the spongy or "tennis racket" feel common to electronic drum pads. TE3.2 trigger technology defines state-of-the-art triggering capabilities with super fast, accurate, dynamic, position sensing, modulation, and dual-trigger capabilities with compatible modules.

The chrome hand-hammered Norez custom steel alloy shell offers extreme durability, non-resonance, and was computer designed (CAD) to eliminate false triggering; and x-talk elevates this drum to its own category. Manufactured to extremely accurate tolerances, this allows uniform consistency between drums. This means consistent and accurate sensitivity, tracking and dual-trigger capability.

Tension rods thread into brass receivers for smooth and accurate head adjustment with a standard drum key. Triple-chrome-plated steel hoops with replaceable and removable rubber Rim Trim for enhanced quiet rimshot and cross-stick operation. These drums truly are in a class by themselves. For the professional or serious enthusiast who will accept nothing less than the best.

Comments about Hart Dynamics Professional 13" Snare Drum with Mesh Head:

Very nice electronic snare drum. I like it a lot more than my Roland PD-128s that came with my TD-30KV. The extra inch makes a huge difference in how the whole kit feels and plays.

Rim shots have that "sweet spot" feel you get with a traditional 14" acoustic drum. I never had that with the Roland snare.

The Maxxum head feels great. Very similar to an acoustic head. It has good rebound without too much bounce. You can really bury the stick in the drum on hard hits and get a natural feel.

The build quality is nice, however I ran in to a few cross threaded tension rods and had to replace them right after I first tensioned the head. Watch out for this if you purchase the drum.

Other than that, the electronics are great. It triggers beautifully with my Roland TD-30 drum module. Positional sensing works great.

No other complaints other than the cross threaded tension rods.

Comments about Hart Dynamics Professional 13" Snare Drum with Mesh Head:

I was looking at this drum for months before I got it on sale, I couldn't justify paying full price on my current budget for an electronic drum, although the snare drum is probably the most important piece in an electronic kit. That being said...

I've been working with electronic percussion for over ten years and have extensive experience using the various different brands of drums and modules available on the market. Right before Purchasing this snare drum I was using the Pintech 14" with a custom trigger foam. I've also used the Roland PD-125 as well as the new PD-128, which comes with the Roland TD-30 set. I have also recently upgraded my module from the Alesis DM-5 to the Roland TD-30, which, if you can afford it, is absolutely amazing and worth its weight in gold.

So - the first thing I noticed about this drum is how loud the mesh head is, which is contradictory to everything everyone seems to be saying in the reviews, as well as the marketing from Hart Dynamics themselves. The head is not silent at all, in fact it is the loudest mesh head I've ever used. Heavier-duty mesh heads seem to have this property (despite the way they are typically advertised). It almost sounds like you're hitting a real drum minus a little bit of the loudness. So if total silence is what your looking for, I would consider replacing the head with a single-ply option like the Pintech Heads, but in my situation it really doesn't matter cause I live alone.

Next, Hart Dynamics claims to be using some special technology that completely eliminates crosstalk between the head and rim - also not true. Using the best drum module on the market (the TD-30), there is crosstalk that I have been so far unable to completely avoid - I'm sure that with some more time and tuning I can make it a little better but, like I said, I have very extensive knowledge of tuning electronic drums and I doubt that there is much more that I'm missing. The crosstalk mostly occurs in the form of a slight but very noticeable, and slightly delayed, rimshot sound, when the head is hit hard, like for a regular full-velocity hit. The only way to avoid this is by turning off the 'x-sticks' feature (available on only certain higher-end modules) when playing a song that would not require any rimshot, which kind of stinks because I use rimshot in a lot of songs I play. I considered using a dampening ring, like what you put on a regular drum to eliminate that ghastly "ring" associated with older style jazz kits. This will hopefully work two-fold by both eliminating the crosstalk and making the drum a little quieter.

Accuracy - this drum is incredibly accurate and responsive to the finest detail - the advertising is spot on in this case. Right out of the box, no adjusting, it responds to the slightest touch and rarely, if ever (when tuned correctly) will give double-hits. It is amazing for rolls, flams, and ghost notes. This is the main reason why I bought this drum and anyone who's been playing for any reasonable amount of time would greatly prefer this to all other drums available. You want your drums to accurately replicate how your playing would sound on a real drum set, and that's exactly what you get with this drum.

Positional Sensing - Again, I think the marketing might be a slight bit misleading on this one. Hart Dynamics claims that this drum has the same positional-sensing capability as the drums used in Roland's TD-30 kit, provided you have a module that supports it, which, as far as I know, is only available on the TD-20 and TD-30. After using the TD-30 kit (with the PD-128 snare drum), and then using this snare drum with my own TD-30 module, I can tell you that it is not the same. It is close, but not the same by a very noticeable margin. Overall, however, I would trade this 13 inch drum for the 12 inch PD-128 any day. The extra inch is nice and looks/feels more like a real drum. And for what its worth, having full positional-sensing, in my opinion, is not the end-all be-all of electronic drumming. I believe it's more important for an electronic kit to be accurate, responsive, and crosstalk-free.

Finally, in terms of feel, it is freakishly similar to a real snare drum, which is another thing that Hart Dynamics boasts about their drums, and they're right. If I could afford it, I would replace my Roland toms (3 PD-85s and 1 PD-105) with the Hart brand toms. And I've heard great things about their cymbals too but I don't like how they are gold colored.

Overall this an amazing drum and I seem to be of a rare breed that has had bad luck with the rim/head crosstalk, which is my only real complaint - the loud head is not really an issue. So, all in all, I would recommend this drum to anyone - it is an absolute must have for any electronic drum set.

I've been using Roland and Hart eDrums since 2005. This Snare is at least as good as the comparable Roland when using a TD-8 module. You may have to tweak the recommended settings depending on your playing style. When purchased new, this drum has a lifetime Hart warranty.

I have a Roland Td-6 and an Alesis Dm5 I use both of them on my kit This drum was the final piece for a total mesh pad kit Ive been working on it for a while LOL!!!!!
The only thing the td6 is good for is the dual trigger forget the tight buzz roll stuff no matter what the setting its just doesnt trigger fast enough.
This drum rocks on the Alesis DM5 Period!!!!!
Its an awesome drum for us low budget guys.

Comments about Hart Dynamics Professional 13" Snare Drum with Mesh Head:

I use this with a Roland drum kit. It's so sensitive it can be triggered with brushes. Yet the bounce is as good (better as far as I'm concern) than real skin. You can tighten the skin to your liking for proper bounce. Every drummer that tried it can't get over it. If you can afford it, go for it.

Its 1" wider and 100 dollars cheaper than Rolands Flagship snare drum. The magnum head that comes on it feels awesome like a real drum head but completely quiet. You'd have to see it to believe it, The accuracy is dead on! No dead spots or hot spots, just a good response from all spots! I highly recommend this over any other pads they offers. If you want the best you're looking at it. The drum is beautiful, and looks like a real drum. I'm very happy I decided to buy it!

No two ways about it...this trigger rules!! After playing Simmons pads for the last 16 years (I have the carpal tunnel lump to prove it) this thing was a God send. It triggers flawlessly, has perfect feel, is silent, and is easy to set up with different drum modules. If you buy it, be sure to get a couple spare heads. Even though they are for an electronic drums, they still wear out.
