A total hand drum set that fits into the tightest of spaces!

Combines Latin Percussion's Giovanni Compact Congas with Compact Bongos, producing full sounds even while dispensing with shells. The set includes a conga stand and mounting system for the congas and mounting post for the bongos.

Giovanni Compact Congas with Stand
This uniquely designed, shallow, portable pair of congas was the winner of a 2003 MiPA award. It includes two conga sizes: 11" and 11-3/4". Constructed with a special aluminum alloy frame, these congas feature synthetic heads for tuning stability and may be played onstage, in the studio, or anywhere that quiet practice is necessary or a full-sized conga is impractical. Mountable on any standard snare stand, they can be used separately or incorporated into a full percussion setup where space is at a premium.

Compact Conga Mounting System
You can securely position the two Compact Congas with the LP Compact Conga Mounting System bracket. Designed for easy placement in complex drum sets and multi-percussion setups, the mounting system includes a tilting mechanism that places the portable congas in optimum position for playing with hands or sticks. The unit can be used as a single compact conga mount and will adapt to various racks and stands. The whole assembly can be put in place in minutes.

Compact Bongos with Mount
LP Compact Bongos project an amazing range of tones that belie their reduced size. Made from a special aluminum alloy, the Compact Bongos feature full-size 7-1/4" and 8-5/8" heads and are drum key tunable. Their compact design allows easy placement in drum kits or expansive percussion setups where space is an issue. And the sound is amazingly close to that of standard bongos. They respond well to intricate hand patterns and can also be played to good effect with drumsticks. Includes mounting post that fits on the included conga stand base and most bongo stand bases.

It has a dry but very acoustic sound. It sounds better with microphones and are a little hard to tune them. Very good to carry them everywhere. Best impossible!

Comments about LP Compact Conga Bongo Set:

Used these little babies the very night I received them and had a blast. Had to mic them to enhance the sound, but that's no problem. I am now using them as part of an array of other rhythm instruments to accompany and enhance trap drummers. I'm sure other drummers are doing to want these Compact Congas/Bongos and will probably want to borrow mine while they save up the cash to buy them. They were a bit costly, but well worth the investment.

Comments about LP Compact Conga Bongo Set:

I just used these tonight with the Darrell Mansfield Band. There was a little mix up and I had brought my Drumset and not all my percussion stuff. The place had the 11 3/4 Conga on a cheap snare stand. The band was blown away by how good it sounded miked up. I was suprised by how responsive it was. I'm going to get a set. I own a set of 3 Volcano Percussion Congas. Those have been hard to beat sound wise.

4 drum heads on 1 heavy stand

Comments about LP Compact Conga Bongo Set:

The product conforms to it's advertising except for the absent bass tone on the congas, which is a really big deal. The stand and frame components are strong and sturdy, and should last and hold up well for serious players. The bongo heads have a nice, crisp and loud tone in all hand techniques. The 11 inch quinto head seems a little dull and soft in the open tone. The conga head has a nice, loud, ringing open tone. The kit seems very heavy to just hold 4 heads and no drum shells.
The price seems high. Sturdy, well constructed.
This kit features a large, adjustable stand (LP mounting stand model #830B) which holds the frame (LP Compact Conga Mounting System Model #LP826M) to mount 11 inch (Model #LP825), and 11 and 3/4 inch (Model #LP826) compact, tunable conga heads. The stand has 3 legs at the base with rubber feet that will fold up against the long frame pole. Additionally, the stand holds an attachment frame on which to mount a set of compact, tunable bongo heads (Model #LP828), which are mounted above and forward of the conga heads. The conga and bongo heads are synthetic and are tunable with a standard drum key. To tune them, remove the heads from their holding frame and turn them over.
All stand and attachment parts seem strong and sturdy. I found the whole set up to be very heavy. Before this purchase, I have been playing on a pair of LP's Cosmic Percussion conga drums - a 10 inch quinto and an 11 inch conga, with rawhide heads, mounted on a stand. The purpose in purchasing the compact congas with bongos kit was portability. They will be easier to load and transport than the 2 full congas and stand, but the compact kit weighs a lot more.
The advertising for the compact congas mentioned that the bass tone was not very good. I found that the bass tone is pretty much non-existent on the compact congas, and to me, that is a very big deal. The 11 inch quinto head is not very loud on the open tones. The 11 and 3/4 inch conga head has a nice, loud, ringing open tone.
I like the tones of the bongos. Both are loud and crisp in all the hand techniques. One annoying thing about the macho head is that it makes popping and crackling sounds sometimes. I hope that will go away with more use.
I think that the price on this kit is high. It is a nice concept, though, and a new innovation in hand drum technology. If I had tried this kit out before buying, I don't think I would have purchased it for the current selling price.

Great Percussion - with two problems

              By Kevin Mc.

              from Nevada City, CA

Comments about LP Compact Conga Bongo Set:

I received these a few weeks ago and have played them on stage and in rehearsal several times now.THE GOOD NEWSThe sound quality of both the bongos and congas are truly amazing (considering their size). I normally play full size Toca Congas and Bongos (same mounting configuration as these - with bongos mounted above congas). The sound from these bongos is nearly indistinguishable from that of real bongos. They tune "up" nicely and hold their tone. The congas are missing that low end which is normally generated from the shells on a full size set. That said, with a couple of condenser mics and a little PA magic, these are truly stage worthy and although they don't sound exactly the same as a full size kit, they have their own sound personality which poses as a good alternative for the real deal. My band mates have been properly impressed with the new sound.THE BAD NEWSTwo problems here ... both dealing with the stand. 1) The stand is short. I am 6'3" and with the stand fully extended the congas do not come up high enough for me to stand up and play these ... so I sit. One side note there - yes, you can sit behind these and stretch your legs out under them, as there is nothing there to block your legs. 2) Because the full set of congas and bongos are so light, the stand migrates while playing. As I am tapping away, I notice every couple of minutes that the entire setup has moved to my left by a couple of inches. During standard rhythms I tend to favor the quinto, and the smaller bongo for its attack - both drums are on the left side. The problem here is that this movement of the stand moves the drums away from the mics so with a quick grab-and-move gesture I reset the kit in the middle of a song to get back on track. I tried replacing the stock base with one from a heavy duty Gibraltar double conga stand, but that only slowed the migration slightly. I will find a solution to this if I have to use sandbags. This setup is so easy to move, they sound great and they mic up really well. They are a great addition to my gear and allow for really fast setup.

              Compact Combo

              By The Burnside Bums-T_XJF

              from Philadelphia, Pa

Comments about LP Compact Conga Bongo Set:

I played these at a local music shop a few weeks back, and I was definitely impressed. I was expecting them to sound super cheesey, but it's amazing how good these congas sound. Not only that, but they're LOUD. The greatest part about them is that all you have to do is collapse the stand and carry them to your practice, gig, or wherever you need to take them. It doesn't get much more convenient than this, but they are a bit pricey considering the fact that they're basically just drum heads.
