I got these for my daughter this christmas, overall the drums are good, its what is to be expected for this level / quality of instrument. The hardware is all single braced, the pedals are flimsy and strap drive. The toms have 4 lugs aside from the floor tom which has six. The skins provided are badly wrinkled when you get them. However all that being said, still a good beginners kit. Well worth the money because everything is included to play out of the box.
I've been playing for about 20 years now. This drum set is definitely the best set I've played on. This thing doesn't even compare to my pearl vision set. The cymbals it comes with are better than my Sabian Xs20 cymbals. This is definitely worth getting if you're a serious musician.
As always, Ludwig offers a great quality product. Bought the 5 piece drum set as a Christmas present for my 4 year old. He had a cheap set that he destroyed, this should last him a while longer! My only complaint is that it did not come with setup instructions, which was not a problem for me being a drummer in bands for over 20 years, but it could be a problem for the average parent. All in all, a very nice, durable, functional set that I think my son will be able to learn on for the next couple years. And, as always the product was delivered promptly and without any problems.
I bought this for my three year old son. He is very excited to play, and he loves it. I think this drum is really worth to buy.
It's been 25 years since renting my only drumset(westbury) at L+M in T.O. I'm a canuck+teacher + drum novice, my main excuse was to buy this set for my 3 year old, but of course I bought it for myself. This was one of the BEST things that I've ever purchased! The extra 100 for shipping was worth it-there was no duty so in the end it was 379 can inclusive. The bass hoop was a little warped but everthing was well built and u get extra lugs, etc.It was easy to assemble, tuning will be ur only challenge but less lugs eg 4 on the toms, makes it easier.Watch Utube!!I tuned the toms batter heads down, the resos are pretuned tight. This gives a nice sounding tone. The same for floor and bass. I use a tshirt for muffling and it just grazes the bottom edge where the drum meets the single ply batter head. No probs with the kick pedal, I'm 5'9 so its just a little bit small but there is a sweet spot for simple beats. Also the spring didnt fall off. It's a great choice for a beginner and sounds infinitely better than a FA 3 piece at TRS! The set sounds like a drum set not a toy. Only a trained drummer could criticize the tone further imho.I got a solar 4- pack to go with the set so I have everything that a student would need. BTW the solars are good 2 and appropriate for this level of drums. The only concern is changing the bass drum head - u'll need a floor tom head 2 do this since its 16 in. Also the HH stand struggles with my 14 in solars but is fine with the standard tiny cymbals so I just tap the hats w/o the peddle. So what would I upgrade 2? If u buy a P900 HHS its going to be a little taller than the kit so i'll leave it for now. Same for the foot peddle, everything else is standard size so I'll have to be creative. But all in all, its a great kit, love the small sizes, but most of all it sounds great to me and my son! PS Whats the difference btw the outfit and the accent????
Just opened for Christmas and very pleased with overall quality of this set. All hardware in good working order except the bass drum pedal. They skimped on quality and used a piece of fabric as linkage. The first time my 9 year old pressed the pedal the fabric (stitching) broke loose. The hi-hat linkage is made of chain and works as it should. For the price it's a very good deal. Hopefully they will replace the broken piece of linkage.
With a name like "Ludwig", I thought I couldn't go wrong. Boy was I mistaken! I realize it's a junior sized drum set, but my expectations were higher. Where to start...First off, no instructions were included anywhere, and I had to jump on the Ludwig website and search around until I found the appropriate PDF for these drums. The hardware is a pain the rear to put together, as it it not like standard hardware which is fairly simple to figure out. More specifically the snare basket on the snare stand is not that great.I already knew the cymbals wouldn't be that great, but the heads are terrible. Thank goodness those easy and cheap to upgrade. All in all, this thing IS for my 5 year old son, who I know will enjoy it immensely!! I seriously was expecting a bit more quality than what there is.
I got this set for my daughter on her 4th birthday. I am a long time drummer and to me it just sounds ok. It is a little frustrating dealing with some of the cheaper parts and features. Especially knowing it is for my little girl. That being said, my daughter loves it. I think it is perfect for a child to start off on. I dig that it is a Ludwig also. I'm sure when she starts jamming and getting funky I will have to upgrade. But for anyone looking to buy this set, you should expect what you are buying it for. Don't hold the same standards you have for yourself. I highly recommend this for a child/beginner.
I bought this for my sons 6th birthday and I am happy with this drum set so far, the quality seems good for the price. The fabric straps on the bass drum pedal and hi-hat should hold IF you go easy, and I would think if it does break any handy-man should be able to fix it. I got the red and it?s a very nice sparkle cherry red looks great. I am not a drummer and it took me quite a while to set this up like 4 hrs., you have to put the skins on 3 of the drums so if you are not a drummer you should read how to do that ahead of time thankfully I was reading about this and new what to do. As said by another review there are no set up instructions so to get this assembled I had to look at the pictures on the web, and search the web for and read how a hi-hat gets put together; The bass drum through me a bit too because the rings that hold the skins on are done different then the other drums so look at the picture!! If you do not rush and take your time its still worth it, since this Ludwig is a great little set to start on!! I also built a 48? x 58? platform for it.
Ordered this kit for my 3 year old grandson. Most of the time when you order something like this your expectations are high and the reality is low. Not so with this kit, came out of the box easy to assemble, and other than the cymbals the quality is pretty good. If you are expecting a roadworthy kit when you buy these you will be disappointed but for a child or a small beginner they are perfect. Overall I am very pleased with this product.
