Ludwig Brass Snare LM304

By Rod-lZG1S

A very solid and well-built 10-lug snare drum that comes with Evans G1 head. I took it out of the box, reset and tuned the heads to 1.5 turns on the drum key. I was immediately surprised to find the sound right in the box of the sound I like. Shell is brass, and the lugs and lug mounts are chrome. Throw-off is smooth and quiet. I added a 42-strand snare as a matter of personal preference. Snares are secured by two lugs instead of phillips head screws. Very pleased with this drum. Highly recommended to someone not wanting to pay the price for a Supraphonic... but by no means am I knocking a Supraphonic.

This snare has a great sound. I added this to my set and it has made a big change. It can be tuned to a deeper sound or can have a high teny sound. I recommend it too any one who wants to up grade to a good snare without spend a too much money.

Snap, Crackle, and Pop!

I bought this, and a Remo Emperor coated head. When I got home I replaced the snares with a generic Tama wires. I am looking to replace those and the throw-off switch (since it doesn't fully disengage the snares). The bottom line is the shell, lugs, hoops are killer. Spend the extra $50 on heads and a throw off switch and notice the difference.

classic meets modern needs.

I have this exact ludwig snare. And the evens G1 head is fantastic. The different tones you can dial into the snare, from the throw off. To dialing the actual head in. Give this classic snare so much versatility. The warmth that the brass has over per say, steel. Is fantastic. You can be as equally comfortable in the studio as on the stage. And this snare of my best investments and at this price. A true value. Great job!
