I purchased this beauty six months ago. I was highly dissatisfied with the snare I had been using; when I saw this snare on sale I jumped and bought it immediately. Man was it worth it! It was immediately obvious that the panther was well built, very sturdy. The double snare tension adjustment is a great plus. When tuned to medium tension a decent full sound is issued forth. However, the true strength in this snare is to tune the batter to a high tension and adjust the snare side head to the desired note. the result is extreme volume and articulation (extremely sensitive). I used this snare to record with and I truly did not need any other snare during the duration of the album. It's absolutely fantastic for recording. BUY THIS SNARE! SERIOUSLY!

Not bad BUT...

Good snare but the black laminate wrap is cracking all around the drum and the 3 position snare setting only works in the on and off position.

I'm a Tama guy but I got this snare. I don't regret it! This is now my main snare. Replace the head with an Evans G2 coated and you won't be sorry!

Black Panther

Right out of the box, this had great tone. It has a higher pitch, due the to the smaller size, but the depth makes it resonate very well. For me, it's the perfect balance for reverberation (or ring). Also, where you hit it affects the sustain of the resonance. Hitting it in the center will give it a very fast decay, almost none at all, but slightly off-center and on to the edge will give more ring. The character of the snare is a very solid crack. I'd recommend this to any range of styles. I'm particularly going to use it for my acoustic rock project, but it could easily fit in my metal stuff, too. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the rim-shots. Wow. Those alone are worth getting this snare for.

I bought this snare a few weeks ago after seeing it online. At first, I was skeptical about the quality due to the price. But hey, I'm poor so I bought it. Man was I happy when I took this thing out of the box. I love the snare system, two strainers one on each side, the lugs are fantastic, and the wood looks gorgeous! Then I played the thing. Forget pork pie, this baby can crack! And the sensitivity is absolutely astonishing. It's great for every genre I've used it for, including metal, alt rock, and church worship. the only downside is it sounds very dry when tuned low. def keep it tuned higher to retain resonance and response.

BUY IT. GREAT SNARE!

I bought this snare to expand. I could not believe they were selling a black panther for this price. I couldnt resist. When I got it, it looked amazing. It's looks so much better from out of the box. Especially the grain of the wood. I made a minor tight tuning adjustment and it sounds amazing. A great overring sing.

It sounds amazing. Has a lot of pop. If you don't have many snares like I do, this would be an awesome snare to start your snare arsenal, or just to have a side snare. Trust me...buy this snare, especially at this price.

I bought this snare a week ago, I changed the heads and put a remo emperor on the batter side and a remo ambassador hazy in the bottom, I tune it, and, it has the perfect amount of punch, it's very loud, the rimshots are very loud, and it's very bright..buy it.

AWESOME

This drum is awesome plain and simple. I have been looking all over for a nice drum with good features that wouldn't bust my wallet. I just recently bought a Birch Vision Pearl set and needed a new snare drum. This drum fits perfect, nice tone, dual snare tension, 2.3mm hoops not diecast but very sturdy, very good wires, and a very nice finish that should go with any set. Only draw back is the batter head it is ok, but that is the same with all drums, buy this drum now you will not regret it.

A good snare, worthy of being a primary

This is not just an accent snare, it's worth consideration as your primary if you're not a Travis Barker-style pounder. It takes light heads well for touch players. The quality of the hardware is well beyond its price point. The shell tone is richer than you'd expect, with a pleasant ring that probably records well (haven't tried it yet). The only reason I don't use mine more often is because I don't have good enough technique to play a 13" regularly. If I did, my 13x6 Black Panther would be my main snare.

BEST SNARE I'VE EVER PLAYED!!!!!!!!

By Anonymous

This snare is the best snare i have EVER used. The night that I got it I tuned it right out of the box. This thing sounds AMAZING if you really get it tight. It is also so easy to tune too. I would recommend this snare to anybody skeptical about it.
