Get a FREE 8" tom with a tom holder and mounting clamp!
The 8-ply, 7.2mm all-birch shells of the Mapex M Birch Standard Drum Set deliver an incredible high-end attack, a narrower midrange, and plenty of bottom end punch. The shells have an exterior maple veneer finished with 8 coats of hand-applied transparent lacquer. Complemented by the matching lacquered bass drum hoops, this kit has a gorgeous appearance that's sure to shimmer under the lights. The Isolated Tom System protects the shell's integrity and allows the toms to vibrate freely, ensuring maximum projection and resonance. OS cymbal accentuators create enhanced cymbal sustain, and the 500 Series double-braced Performing Artist hardware means your components stay in place, however heavy a hitter you are. Recent improvements include a boom stand with a retractable tilter and a footboard stabilizer for the bass drum pedal. Remo heads all around mean you're ready to go straight out of the box! Cymbals not included.

I cannot fault this kit or make in anyway. I just adore it. In a sapphire blue/aqua marine sort of colour it just shines beautifully in the light. The stage presence is second to none too.The skins definitely need replacing by the skin of your choice, once that is done they sound even better. The ball socket tom mounting system is the best I have seen - allowes wonderful response as the toms can breath and the bass drum is perfect. The hardware is double braced - sturdy too and very useful. For a fantastic price from Rockern music and quick delivery too leaves me excited everyday. Thanks Mapex. I recomend this kit to any drummer.
The only negative thing I could say about this set is the hardware isn't top notch, but for the price you can't beat it. Buy a gibralter starter rack, some evans ec2 and g1 clears and you're all set to go! Oh yeah it is 100% birch all the way through and the finish is stunning (I've got honey amber). Did I menion they sound great?!
I ordered this set through a local music store, and the employees there could'nt help but set it up to get a look at it. When I came in to pick it up, everyone was commenting on how beatiful it looked, and when I began to play it, how amazing it sounded. One of my favorite things about the set is that my sticks bonce off the toms so seamlessly. My only complaint is that the cheap snare has an annoying ring, but all-in-all this is one AMAZING trapset.
Outstanding quality, easy to set up, Hardware is sturdy and the price is spot on. Tuning is up to the user and the style he/she plays. Heads are not bad for right out of the box. Comes with an instructional video that is easy to follow. However, the video is based on a standard set so you will have to do some out of the box thinking when setting up your Floor Toms given the video addresses a single Floor Tom and stand vice the one that comes with this set. Enjoy, well worth it.
I purchased the Mapex M Birch 6-Piece with free 8" Tom in November of 2006. This company gave me extremely prompt delivery, everything arrived well-packed and undamaged, and the quality of the set greatly exceeded my expectations, especially for the price. I've replaced the tom heads with Evans G2's and E-rings, replaced the bass heads with Evans EMADs, and put Evans Sound Control heads on the snare. The set looks stunning (Cherry Red), and I have recevied great reviews on the sound of the toms. After 9 months of regular use, I have absolutely no regrets, and would, without hesitation, recommend the kit to anyone looking for a big set, with excellent quality, at a reasonable price. Mapex has made me a believer!
First off I bought this set in December and they amount of what you get and the value for the price is incredible. Only one thing is you need new heads the ones it comes with are ok but an upgrade would make this set unbelievable. if your thinking of buying this set defiantly buy it I was looking at a pearl for about there same price and decided to go with the Mapex based on the good reviews so I had to write my own review incase somebody else was contemplating between two sets. Final word: GO WITH MAPEX!
Ive had my eyes on this set for about a year, and I finally got it a couple of weeks ago. Out of the box it sounds awesome! All I would recomend is some new heads. I also played it live with my band and it looks so nice(I got it in blackforest cherry). This set is the BEST set you can get for this price. Kudos Mapex.
These are great drums! The heads are cheap and the snare has an annoying ring, but just muffle it and it will sound good.
It's been almost a year since I got my kit and I just can't get over how great this kit sounds and looks. I had stopped playing drums for almost 10 years and started again with a crappy 5-piece which was just what I needed to send me shopping. This thing was love at first sight! Thank you Mapex for such a great deal !!!
I've been playing drums professionally for over 20 years and have never had such high quality drums for such a great price. The attention to detail that Mapex puts into these drums easily outshines the competition. I've owned DW, Gretch, Yamaha, Pearl and these drums sound as good or better than any of them. They sound great out of the box and all you need to do is add cymbals. I chose to upgrade heads afer seven months to Evans EC2 and WOW!! These drums sound as good as my $5K set of custom DW's I have in the studio. I'd recommend these Drums over any mid range price set out there and quite a few higher priced sets(these blow my old PDP set away easy). If you're undecided on what set to buy Wait No Longer! Awesome Job Mapex!!!
