Features:

For the price this snare is really good.  Sounds good, I'm using it for a practice snare and it will serve as a backup snare.

Quality:

It tunes up really well, 8 lugs for tuning is really good.  Has a good sound.

Value:

This snare is made really well, 8 lugs for tuning (not usually found on a inexpensive drum) the throw off is good, and it has a 20 strand snares.  For the price it is a excellent drum.

Overall:

Overall, this is a great snare.  I would use it for a primary snare if I had too.  It has good quality sound for an inexpensive drum.  Great value. I've never had a backup snare and I was wanting to aquire a piccolo snare, so I thought for the price, what the heck, I was really pleasantly surprised.

This snare sounds great regardless of price. When you consider price, it  is unbeatable. Cutting, with plenty of crack, this snare can be used  for either a main snare, or a side snare. I currently use mine tuned up  rather high. It is perfect for funky breakdowns, ala James Brown. The  batter head also has a nice "rough" surface that works great with  brushes. For the price you pay, it is worth having this as a second  snare, just in case you break a head at a gig, and don't have time to  swap heads. Do yourself a favor, and pick this little wonder up. You  won't regret it!

This is so identical to the 149.99 Mapex MPX piccolo its not funny. Great snare even with the stock heads, of coarse higher quality ones will be better when these wear out. I tuned it to a mid pitch and applied one moongel and it sounds fantastic!... I am actually using this as my main snare right now and really like it. Sharp cutting crack of the whip and very responsive. I compared it to a MPX snare and all I could tell the difference on is the strainer on the MPX is a little fancier and maybe different hoops, other than that I couldn't see the difference. If you are looking for a cheap auxiliary snare on the cheap but not cheap quality look no further.
