      OVERVIEW

Explosive sounds with all the right touches.

The Micro Vent snare drum from OCDP is designed to give drummers' maximum projection and sensitivity. The 7" x 14" steel shell features dual 2" bands of micro vents, which dramatically increases the volume and responsiveness. Thick die-cast hoops help keep the snare's sound under control, so all that added power doesn't add too much ring to adversely affect your tone. In short, the Micro Vent snare is designed to be louder, more sensitive, drier, and more explosive than any other drum you have ever played. Plus, it has all the small touches that make OCDP snares look so unique, including 20 offset lugs, a chrome finish and all chrome hardware.

Comments about Orange County Drums and Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

The nay-sayers are correct when they accuse this thing of lacking body. Albeit, it takes low to high tuning without losing sensitivity. And, though lacking "body" it is able to produce a certain fatness at low tunings, not at all unpleasant. Response is definitely a problem. Even at high tunings--I'm talking a seriously cranked batter--using a standard Remo Ambassador, this snare does not push back; if your looking for good stick bounce, forget it and move on. However, the resonance from the snares maintains perfect crispness at all volumes and does so consistently from all locations on the playing surface. All said, it's not the best snare in my arsenal, but it offers a unique sound that has it's place. I don't love it but I certainly don't hate it and I won't be dumping it too soon.

i replaced my acrylic crush snare with this one, i tried every snare guitar center had on the shelf and kept going back to this bad-boy. Nothing sounds like it...or looks like it. a more expensive snare couldnt do any better. (actually this prob sounds BETTER than a more expensive snare drum) def wont be disapointed. try it and you will be sold. It blends in perfect with my acrylic crush kit

buy it. tune it...right. and play it like a man
this snare is incredible. crank down a really good head on it, im using theEvans ES B14HBG DrumHead, and it sounds great. i get compliments almost everytime i play out, which is at 3 least times a week.
this thing is strong. it can take a beating. i play the heck out of it.
i got it on sale and i think the price was little steep, but it has proven itself over the time ive owned. definitely recommend this to anyone looking into getting a new snare thats LOUD, punchy, and cracks like a gunshot every hit.

The Crack You've Been Lookin' For

          By Ozma

Comments about Orange County Drums and Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

One Word - WoW! - I've been through a few snare's myself, I currently play a Ludwig Supra-Phonic (14X6.5) which is a great Snare but I needed something with a little more volume and crack and low and behold I found it with the OCDP Micro Vent Snare. Don't pay attention to the other reviews they just didn't have it tuned right or use the right head. I put a REMO "Weatherking Coated Controlled Sound" head on this and it cracks like fire cracker.

Great for Metal and Hard Rock

Comments about Orange County Drums and Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

Great snare - just the snare I had been looking for. It's loud, has nice a crack and depth. Trick is to tune it TIGHT and use a thin dead-ringer on it. If it's not tuned tight you won't get the full potential and it will sound tinny. I use an Evans dry head on mine.

          TERRIBLE

Comments about Orange County Drums and Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

I have played on many of these snare drums. What is there to say? OCDP makes several quality products. This is not one of them.I think it's the Micro Vents. There are a lot unwanted ring and overtone regardless of head choice and tension. It sounds like if you took a Piccolo, over cranked it and cut off half the snares.Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

          Say Hello to the Future

          By just some guy

          from Virginia

Comments about Orange County Drums and Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

I just bought this snare, have gotten it home, played it and am so happy with it! It's got the OCDP crack-sound that we've come to expect. This snare really helps a drummer to stand out. In fact, this snare stands out so much that it's made me realize that it's time to update the rest of my kit, because my Pearl Export just doesn't stand up to it. With the way that this snare sounds and the other OCDP drums sound, I really think that OCDP is the way of the future- a future where drummers stand out more and get the recognition that we recognize.

          Interesting looks, poor sound.

          By Bill-HgOZa

          from New York

Comments about Orange County Drums and Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

This snare makes you want to try it based on its looks, and the sound makes you put it back. This snare drum has zero body to to the sound. It feels very hollow. It has a very high pitched tinny overtone and it is hard to describe it without saying that it just sounds cheap. I would not recommend this snare to anyone who is a serious musician...or anyone based on the price.
