I recieved these cymbols today. At first I was estremely excited and I couln't wait to start playing them. But my excitement soon died after I started playing them. I have been playing drums for about a year and I have always played Sabian B8. I busted my crash so I decided to try some new cymbols. I shopped for a month looking for the perfect cymbol. I was about to buy a different set when I came upon the Paiste PST3. I thought it was an amazing deal. I ordered them and expected to recieve awesome cymbols. When I pulled they out of the box I noticed that the crash cymbol was heavier than expected. I put it on the stand and struck it hard with my drumstick. There was a dead thump with horrible overtones. I set it up with my drum set and started playing but that didn't help. The crash has no sound AT ALL! and definately no good overtones. The only sound I could get to come out of the cymbol was a thick thump and the harder I hit the worse the sound. The hi-hats sound good. They have a tight, clinky sound when closed and a sharp sound when open. The hi-hats are a good deal. The ride is a little better. The bell isn't very loud though and it takes a long time for the cymbol to "die off" until it is silent. But the crash is the worst. I would recomend the PST 5 or the Alpha if you want to stick with Paiste. I will definately be returning these cymbols and upgrading to a non-beginers set. Unless you are a beginner or have absolutely no money to spend on a nicer set, stay away from these cymbols.

This is a cymbal that I think must have been made for beginners. It is in the middle of Meinl HCS and Sabian B8. It isn't as good as Sabian B8, but better for the money than Meinl HCS. I am an intermediate player and I think this is more of a cymbal for beginner-intermediate players. I recommend for players my level either Sabian B8 or Ziljian A or ZBT. Ok, the ride sounds pretty bad, but the bell is decent... the crash has good sustain, but no pop if you know what I mean... and the hi-hat, wow this hi-hat is REALLY GOOD. If you are going to buy this, instead buy a Sabian B8 20" Ride, a B8 16" crash, and this hi-hat. The hi-hat is really washy and explosive. Really bright and shimmery. Its great!

A good buy for borderline intermediates/beginners.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Universal Set 14/16/20:

These cymbals are the real deal for a beginner or a border-line intermediate. The hats have a mediocre "chick" and "half-open closed" play to it but have some of the best sizzles I have ever felt on its beginner level. The crash has little to none sustain, a terrible tone, and is extremely heavy. The ride is excellent, it has a nice ping and the bell is top notch for once again a beginner cymbal. If you're in need for a quick replacement or you're an inspiring beginning drummer, then this package is for you. If you have the extra cash go with the higher-end Paiste's or some Sabians and Zildjians.

great cymbals

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Universal Set 14/16/20:

So, I have a pretty crappy drum set but I'm making it work while I save up for a new Pearl. But a must have was new cymbals. So I got these for my birthday and overall they are great cymbals that really brought my set to life. When I first took 'em out of the box they were beautiful. The crash and hats picked up marks but nothing big. I have had them for about 8 months and they still sound great. The crash has a really nice sustain and a bright punch. it could have a little more kick to it, but its definately not bad. the ride is awesome. Its really heavy and solid but it has a bright, crisp, cutting sound to it. The bell's not bad either. The hats are great too. Closed they have a real nice chick. They also work really well washy or open. Overall, great cymbals, good price, buy them!

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Universal Set 14/16/20:

I needed a new set of cybals to brighten up my drum kit, so I got these cymbals as I got a good deal on them, and I definitely don't regret it. They are really good for someone of intermediate skill, like me, and are perfect if your starting out gigging, and just using in practice. The bell on the ride is superb, the crash has a great sustain, and the high hats are excellent, especially for the price I got them. Highly recommended

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Universal Set 14/16/20:

I just bought these to replace my stock cymbals, and overall I'm pretty impressed. They were nice and shiny, and looked beautiful. First off, the hats are decent. When closed, they don't have much character but they sound great when opened slightly. The crash is so-so. 16 in. are just too bright for me. And finally, the ride is great. It sounds beautiful and looks beautiful. I would recommend getting them if you don't mind the less than amazing hi-hats.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Universal Set 14/16/20:

These are good cymbals. I bought them as a set of cymbals to just bang on. They did a lot better than I thought they would. They sound almost as good as my Zildjian a custom cymbals. I would recommend them to beginners though.
