I've used various cymbals by almost all of the manufacturers. The last I bought before these were a set of Paiste 2002's. These are incredible, never mind the price. They sound just as good as my 602's/2002's/A Zildjians, but at a much lower price. I would definitely recommend these to anyone from a beginner to a professional. I bought the 18" China Type; two 16" thin crashes; 20" Rock Ride; 13" medium HH. Had money left over for new drum heads!

Bought this because youtube video sounded better than most. Video had no undertone, but this one has a distinctive one that's annoying. Don't hear it with loud music. Have to really hammer it hard to project and to get volume. I don't like to hit cymbals that hard. Nice crash, just don't like the undertone. Be sure to hear this in person before you buy.

Awesome

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

I was in the market for another crash to compliment my setup. I have 14 in hats, a 14 in thin crash, and a 20 in ride...I tog this to replace the other 16 in crash I didn't like. I really like the smaller cymbals, thin crashes in particular for that explosive, higher pitched sound. This cymbal is awesome, great higher pitched tone and good sustain, but it doesn't ring forever. It was a great deal for $ and it looks awesome too, very glossy finish. I will defenately go with more Paiste cymbals in the future. They seem to have the best to offer in the lower price range.

the cymbal is just amazing! its a bright crash and it doesnt ring and it deadens out at a reasonable time. this cymbal is just fantastic sounding and id definatly reccomend this to anyone.
THIS CYMBAL IS INCREDIBLY CHEAP! i bought it thinking it was gunna sound okay since the price is so low... but it is a cymbal that sounds like a cymbal that cost twice as much. its just outstanding for the price and i would never regret buying this.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

I baught this cymbal like others to fill a void of sorts, I have Sabian Vault and AAX Crashes also so I grabbed the 18 inch pst5 thin crash, let me tell you I find myself using this cymbal alot more than the others as a "main" crash following a drum fill, its an extremely pleasing sounding cymbal, very profesional sound and the 18 in my opinion is the perfct size. You will love this cymbal trust me! Blues, Classic Rock or anything else its a fantastoc cymbal for the price and I dont think any other company has a "budget" cymbal that can even come close! If you only get one go for the 18 inch its just so versatile ! I would have no problem outfitting my whole kit with these, there that good. I just ordered the 16 to give it a try, I do wish they had a 19 and 20 even a 17 in the series but even still this is the best buy in a crash cymbal I have ever seen and no one will notice at all what you paid, certainly not by the sound! good job paiste awesome cymbal! From a Sabian guy!

Great cymbal for a fraction of the cost

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

This was my first endeavour into aftermarket cymbals, it was a very pleasant start. I ordered the 14 inch due to funding constraints and though it is not amazing as a primary crash, as a quick accent crash it fits perfect, it is extremely bright with fast decay. The quality and sound is unparallelled by any of the other "value priced" beginner/intermediate cymbals. I intend to purchase the rest of the PST5 series crash cymbals to fill the void until I can afford the full 2002 series.

Excellent Crashes

By Towellie

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

The PST-5 Thin Crashes are extremely versatile crashes, especially for the price. I own a 14" and a 16". The 14" thin is very washy and musical, giving an explosive little crash with a quick decay, perfect for punchy accents and "ride" crash patterns. It chokes extremely well, and is my primary choice for a cymbal to choke for bass drum punches. The 16" is quite a bit louder, but still has a quick decay and an explosive, washy sound. It has a better bell sound for riding, bur its crash is a little overwhelming if used for "ride" crash patterns. Although it chokes well for a large cymbal (it IS thin, after all), it still has many unwanted overtones when in my clutch. It serves me better as an accent at the end of a measure. Both thin PST-5's are well worth the investment!

Great crash cymbal

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

This was my first crash cymbal for my drum set, and I have the 16 inch. It sounds good, and it's great for use as a primary crash. It has a nice ring to it, and a short decay, which is almost ideal for the genre of music my band plays. This is probably what i would call a intermediate level crash, dont waste your money on a zbt or a sbr, get this one. My only gripe is that the cymbal occasionally feels like delicate, and i dont know how long ittl last. Its really good.

THIS CYMBAL IS THE BEST!

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

I bought this cymbal a few months ago, since I am on a tough budget and it was very cheap. I also liked the sound. I got the 14", and I have not regretted it. It sounds AMAZING. Since it's thin, I thought that it wouldn't be very durable, but this thing takes everything, and bites right back. This thing is AMAZING. BUY IT.

Fantastic cymbal

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

This cymbal is a very nice addition to most any set that has lighter sounding cymbals in it's array. On my set up I have a Zildjian ZXT Rock Ride, and the rock ride does not compliment this cymbal enough at all. Too dark and noisy for this beautiful sounding cymbal. The only reason I give it a 4 on features is the bell is not too useful. That's never usually an issue but if you like your crash cymbals to at least have a decent bell, go for a medium crash instead of thin. I plan on buying the rest of the PST 5 line up.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

I bought this to replace the junk cymbals that come with a set when you buy it. Im not usually a drummer, but i needed a decent drum kit for practicing at my house with a band, or just to jam on. It has been through every type of drummer you can think of. heavy rock balads to jazz to hardcore metal. It sounded beautiful throughout all of them. My friend who has only ever used zildjan A customs played on it and said that they actually soound almost as good as his A custom....and i didnt tell him until after that i paid about a quarter of the price. they even sound great when mic'ed and recorded. so i went out and bouth an 18" medium, and loved that too. hopefully i will switch my ride to one too as i am satisfyed with my hi hats

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

This is the first cymbal I ever bought, after years of using old cymbals I looked into the Paiste PST 5's and bought a 14" I went home and put it on a stand and hit it. I nearly cried it was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. I have recently bought a Paiste PST 5 16" crash, 18" crash,18" china and a 10" splash and the 14" is still my favorite.

18'' thin (sweet)

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

This line from Paiste is considered among many to be a value or student class of cymbals. I own many cymbals, from the Big 3 and also Agop and Bosphorus. That being said, I was looking for a cheap crash that had a spoke the language of "Classic Rock". I was hesitant at first because the price was so cheap, but when I heard this thing on a kit @ my local drumshop my desicion to buy was an easy one. In comparing it to the 2002 line, I found the harmonics and tonal wash, and shimmer to be almost the same. Bottom line: If you're on the fence about this crash or are like me, just wanting a good value without sacraficing quality, buy this cymbal. You won't regret it.

I own several of the PST cymbals and love them all. The price point is great and they sound pretty darn good. This splash is the only exception. It barely even makes noise when you hit it . . . twang. I would return it if it was worth more money.

I bought this cymbal to replace my ZBT crash that cracked. Well, first off this cymbals sound is very good and what amazes me the most is I have had this cymbal for almost two years and iv beaten the piss out of it and still not one crack!! Very durable and will not crack as long as you do not tighten it down on your cymbal stand

Wonderful Overall Cymbal

By Tarek

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash:

The Paiste PST 5 Thin Crash is a bright and melodious cymbal that adds color and backbone to any style of drumming. I've been using the 14" cymbal daily for about 7 months and it still sounds very nice. It doesn't look as good as when I got it, but the quality of the sound is still there. I'm a medium-hard hitter, but sometimes I'll really hit this cymbal HARD to get a powerful accent out of it, and it can certainly take the beating with no cracks or mishapes. The one thing I wish could be better about this cymbal is the bell. The sustain is shorter than I'd like and it sounds a little bit tinny... It can still be used to add interesting accents, but I wish it could be more solid-sounding and be a little louder.Overall, this cymbal is a fantastic buy - money-wise, sound-wise and durability-wise. Definitely recommend.
