I wasn't really sure about Paiste cymbals until I was looking for some hi-hats and got a great deal on these cymbals gently used. It was too good of a deal and I figured I can always re-sell it and make a profit so I decided to get them and I'm glad I did. They have such a nice musical sound to them and sound amazing with everything you use them for. The tightly closed "click," slightly open, open, etc, it all sounds great. While they're not my favorite hats every, (probably vintage Zildjian), they definitely are a close call and I'm very pleased I got them. If they broke for some reason, I'd go out and buy some more Paistes for sure.
I got an awesome deal on these and decided to get 'em and WOW I'm glad that I did. A great step up from my previous hats, Sabian XS20s, and I can't wait to try more Paiste cymbals because of this purchase.
At first I had my doubts in Paiste, but that was before one of my friends introduced me to Paiste. I can tell you, I've played Zildjian Custom K, Custom A, ZXT and ZBT; and none of them compare to Paiste.. I will no longer buy any more Zildjian. Only Paiste for me from now on...
I've had these hats for a couple of years now. I use them for a working rock band and a metal band. For the working projects they excel in dynamics from country/blues levels to modern rock, like my '90s cover band. For metal they are fast for quick open-close accents, and closed they areespecially articulate for intricate sticking. For softer rock they sit in the mix very well. Be nice to them or beat them up a bit, this may be paiste's most well rounded offering for the working/recording/giging drummer who needs to cover several basses.
