I got this when I started listening to metal, and it seemed fine to me. I blamed the fact that I couldnt play fast on my inexperience. however, when i visited a friend w/ DW 9000's, i was in shock. These have the tightest spring tension ever, and when u try to loosen it, it looses all tension and the beater doesnt even move till the end of the stroke, and that isnt enough for it to even make contact w/ the bass head! so its super tight or nothing. when i try to keep a steady beat, my left foot is tensioned funny, so i end up playing like swing triplets, and it sounds like " + trip, + trip." I have to really concentrate to make my strokes even. It also has a really annoying nub on the left side of the left pedal that is in the perfect place to make it hard for me to put the pedal right next to the hi hat stand. Its purpose seems to be to stop the pedal from creeping forward (it has no spurs), but the way its designed, it pushes the pedal forward too far and the cam catches on my hi hat leg, so i really need a 2 legged HH stand. Tough beaters to. I wouldn't recomend this even to beginners, because it will teach them to play double bass wrong. go w/ yamaha flying dragons/ iron cobra/ dfp 8110 or something

DO NOT GET THIS PEDAL!!!!

By Lukeisawsem

from Oregon

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I have been drumming for almost seven years now for my own band, and the high school pep band. This pedal is not worth your time or money. If you want a good pedal for a low price get the Pearl p-902 double bass, its very sturdy and has a great feel.
This pedal has no real features to speek of...
Within the first week I had horrible problems, almost immediately the pedals got out of synch, and no matter how I adjust the additional pedal wont loosen up or stay at the same level as the main kick does. The shaft is not made of a very durable metal and bends really easy. The lack of extra screws for adjustments is also a very bad feature, because every thing always slips of (the shaft for instance).
not worth the little amount they want for it.

Good For A 1st Dbl Bass Pedal

By The BIG BANG!

from The Red sea!!!

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I Had This Pedal Since 2008, And This Is My First Dbl Bass Pedal. It's Good For A Drummer That Is Just Startin Out. After A Year, One Of The Springs Broke, And One Of My Beaters Have Broke This Year, And Luckily I Had A Backup From My Dixon Pedal. The Left Pedal Is Really Squeaky, And You Always Gotta Tighten The Beater Holder Thing On The Pedal Bar Thing With An Alan Wrench. If Your An Intermediate, Advanced, Or Pro Drummer, You'll Probably Be Better Off Going With One Of The DW Pedals or the Tama Iron Cobras.

They're Okay

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I've had these pedals for about a year now and personally, i hate them for speed. The beaters are too heavy, so personally these are for a learner who wants to build up leg muscles and learn how to play double bass. Another thing for price would be to.... Buy some lighter beaters from here, and clean the bearings or buy new bearings for them. That would improve the pedal some.

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

this pedal is HORRIBLE! sure, its cheap but its not very good. the beater is too heavy and it flys back and hits my foot and it hurts! i have had these for 2 years, i tried adjusting them, it made no difference. so im saving for the Pearl P2002B Belt-Drive PowerShifter Eliminator Double Bass Drum Pedalepedal.just save up for something better.

Why is everyone trashing this pedal, its $99.

By Alpha9

from Campton, KY

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I bought this pedal a couple of days ago. While its alot harder to compare it to $375 pedal, like it sounds like some of these people are, its a $99 item. I brought it home and set it up and this thing was rocking in no time. If this is your first double pedal I would try this. Of course, as with any cheaper pedal, if its something youre good at it you will have to upgrade. But if youre just learning and dont know if youll like a double bass dont waste your money on a big name, get this one. When I upgrade I will absolutley keep mine for a back up.

not fast enough

By MORBID MIND

from kentucky

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

im a metal guy through and through, so needless to say, i like to play fast and heavy. this isnt fast, but its really really heavy. might be good for building up your leg muscles when you try to go fast or something, but all it did was get on my nerves. made me look like i didnt know what i was doing in front of the jam buddies. i couldnt get either of the pedals to match, and the left pedal is very delayed. the metal that the frame is made of seems rather soft too. the lock washer seemed to easily grind away the paint and metal when i adjusted the spring tension. i upgraded to a true double kit, so i sold this pedal, and bought another single to match the yamaha pedal i already had. big difference. for basic double rolls, its okay at best, but is for beginners. not for someone wanting speed.

Slow and unresponsive

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

A friend of mine wanted me to trade my $20 Ludwig single bass pedal for this, upon trying it out I found out why. The right pedal seemed to work just fine most of the time, but the left seemed to be very delayed. It jammed up constantly and just really wasn't worth the hassle. Overall my Ludwig blew this away. It is one of the cheaper double bass pedals out there, so give it a try if you want. I just hope that you have a better experience than we did with it.

Great starter!!

By MastaChief

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

These pedals are a great starter for beginners and whatnot, but i've been playing for about a year and i have well developed my double bassing and surpassed these pedals abilities. After you get used to them its rather easy to improve, but after you use them for so long you realize you cant super base or anything really really fast although i can play alotta hard stuff haha i'd totally recommend this if your a begginer or are on a low budget as i am.

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

Good for someone just starting to learn double bass. They have a really heavy feel to them. I've played on these for 2 almost, and i tried my friends iron cobras and I felt like it was almost easy to go fast.. These are good for beginners. If you aren't a beginner its a waste of money.
