Heavenly feel; wickedly fast.

The Eliminator Demon Drive bass drum pedal was engineered to create the most seamless link between the player's musical ideas and his or her execution on a bass drum. Whether seeking to deliver lightning-fast blast beats or deep, rock-solid grooves, this Pearl drum pedal offers the adjustability to maximize your playing in any style.

Play a Pearl Demon Drive and the first thing you'll notice is its smoothness. The Demon Drive gets its incredible smoothness and speed through the use of ultra-precise hardware components. Self-aligning spherical bearings are used to insure the footboard and the Direct link drive are always in perfect alignment. Its zero-latency Z-Link Drive Shaft's U joints, and special super-high-speed Ninja bearings on the axles all work in perfect sync to create one of the smoothest and fastest pedals on the planet.

The most unique feature of the Demon Drive drum pedal is Pearl's exclusive Duo-Deck, the world's first convertible footboard. With a simple adjustment, the Demon Drive pedal can be adjusted from a traditional shortboard to a longboard pedal in seconds, offering a slightly lighter, quicker feel that is the preferred setup when speed is a necessity.

This bass pedal includes the world's first two-position Beater Stroke Adjustment and two-position Direct Link Adjustment. Both allow the player to create a slightly lighter or heavier feel of the pedal depending on their preferred setting. Adjusting the Duo-Deck in combination with the Beater Holder and Direct Link Adjustments yields 8 possible pedal configurations, allowing the player to truly create their ideal feel.

The Click Lock spring tension system prevents the tension knob from loosening. The Traction Plate, which has aluminum traction dots, is fully adjustable for the amount of slip or grip you want . Its footboard height-adjustment capability enables you to loosen and rotate the footboard to the desired height. And finally, the Pearl pedal comes standard with a Carrying Case to protect it from the wear and tear of travel.

Note: Slave pedal may need stabilization with the PS-85 Pedal Stabilizer.

Well, I gave in to the hype and bought these. I tried them out for about a month and I was not at all impressed. The Pearl P-2002C pedals slay these in every way. They have way more control, way more power, and they are faster. The only time Id say go with demon drives is if you are insanely good at heel toe technique and need a pedal for that. Other than that, save your money and go with the P-2002C

Awesome Pedal

Features:

This pedal is rediculously smooth compared to my last. The dual rotating Z-Link shaft is an amazing innovation as is the direct link from the pedal to the CAM. No chains wrapping around gears here. The slave pedal has almost zero lag. The ability to switch it from a short to a long board depending on style is great. The extra leverage of a longboard is super fun without having to commit to getting a stictly longboard pedal. The "feel" settings are actually designed into the pedal. Instead of adjusting tension here and there to go for a heavier or lighter feel and playing guess and check for four hours you actually move the beater clamshell towards or away form the head depending on what you want. Same with the direct link. THIS spot has more leverage (lighter) THIS spot has less (heavier). Everything is independent of eachother so you can adjust the beater position without changing the footboard hight and vice-versa. Finally, the bearings that connect the Direct link and the cam shaft are somehow always magically aligned. Overall the best pedal I audituoned, which is why I bought it!

Quality:

The finish started showing scratches from the drum key pretty quickly. I am not afraid of damaging the actul aluminum, though. This thing is built like a truck. Sometimes trucks get a few light marks. The only concern I have is the locks on the spring tension adjuster. I feel if anything is going to fall off its going to be those, but it will probably be when I'm fiddling with the pedal so no worries. Also it came with a great case so everthing will be contained. Also not a huge fan of the beaters. They do what they are supposed to theres almost no vibration to them, but they are super lightweight and don't hit very hard. Need an upgrade...

FULL DISCLOSURE: None of the adjustments are on the fly. a lot of stuff has to come apart and be moved. you cant flip a switch to longboard it or anything like that. But it prevents the pedal from slipping out of its setting.

Value:

Overall the pedal is a great value. It's definitely very expensive but I found it to be worth every cent. The features are beyond almost any other pedal on the market. It comes with a sturdy case and backup tools. The only thing I was not a fan of were the beaters, and that's a quick fix.

Overall:

This pedal was a great purchase. The features are amazing, my favorite being "feel" settings that rely on physically moving a part to a different location and using physics and commmon sense instead of relying on tension adjustment to get the perfect setting. I was able to set this pedal up to my ideal setting in less than 30 minutes. The ability to go from shortboard to long board is awesome and gives a lot of flexibility to mess around, try different things, and have fun. I am not a fan of the beaters and will probably upgrade to SLUGS soon. None of the adjustments are on the fly so its important to take time to know what you want, but that wasnt a negative factor and I have no worries about my setting changing in the middle of a set. Overall this pedal is fantastic.

I have played many pedals in my years of playing. This pedal has tons of features and I loved the feel of the shortboards, but converting it to longboard is amazing. There is a bit of learning curve to these as well, especially if your used to chain drive pedals. It is also different than other direct drive pedals as well. But no two different brands are the same just as no two people are the same. But all in all after you have adjusted and set it up for you and, its a speed machine with liquid playing ability worthy of anyone who takes the time to learn how to use it.
