Where to start? Well I bought my first Pearl kit in 1989 and was impressed with the quality then. Fast forward to 2007, and I'm looking for a new kit to play out live with, and settled on the trusty old Exports. OK first off, the Exports are not super-pro quality recording drums (nor do they carry a matching price tag). That said, these are excellent drums for the weekend-warrior, beginner, occasional recording artist, or anyone with low cash funds for drums. They are built incredibly well, with excellent hardware. First thing I did was replaced the heads. Remo Pinstripes all the way around (except snare, I use Coated Emperor), with Ebony Ambassodors on the bottoms (which looks killer because I got black Drums w/ black hardware). I'll tell you right now, the drums I got are the new "EX" badged drums not the old Script style badges. So why does this site sell this same kit with a 10" tom, 1 more stand, hi-hat attachment, and 14" floor tom (Instead of the massive 18" you get with this kit), for nearly $500 more??? I play fast, and have long been a fan of Tama Iron Cobra pedals (which I use on my other kit), but I was really surprised by the feel of the new P-120P pedals. Pedals are obviously a very subjective thing, but I liked the feel, when moving the footboard back to the light setting, and adjusting the springs to medium tension. very easy to get rapid double strokes, or to just flat-out pummel the neighborhood with blast beats!!! And of course, most important to many drummers, very expandable and also parts are easliy replaced. Pearl has always done an excellent job, making their components available, from the huge selection of add-on tom sizes, to hardware replacement parts. For the price, you're not gonna find a better deal.

this is one of pearls lower lines, however, for what its worth its a good deal. if you arent playing in huge arenas and places like that, this is the way to go. it doesnt take 4 hours to setup like most people have said if you actualy know what your doing, its actualy quite simple if your an experianced drummer.also, if you want to use this to play any gigs...new heads are a good idea, the pearl heads arent to bad but if you want to use this for anything worthwhile invest in some heads

Perfect kit for a beginer and on!

By drummer for God-_p-eX

from Iowa

This is an awesome kit! I have had it for two months, and I recommend it for the drummer who ether is a beginner and wants an affordable yet excellent set or for a working musician. The Pearl heads aren't worth much, but they sound ok. Those people who say that it takes hours to set up don't know what they are talking about. The Pearl hardware can not be beat! The pedals could be better but why replace something that works well? Over all this is a SWEET drum set, and you should buy it!

Great drums

I've had this kit for nearly a year now and it's held up great. i do suggest you replace the heads cuz the stock Pearls suck. I went with powerstroke 3's on the bass batters, pinstripes on the tom batters and ambassadors on the tom resonant. they sound pretty amazing now, i did replace my snare tho, the one it comes with is fine but i like the sound of a metal snare much better. i've played several shows with these drums and they sound great in all environments as long as you tune them well. absolutely great drums!

DRUMMER MAN

I purchased this kit about a year ago, and was amazed at the quality of the exports. I placed remo pin stripes on them and boom!! I later added the 8" & 10" expansion toms, and I am now in business. I have owned a lot of different brands over my 34 years of playing, but I can say the initial impression from these particular drums were their strength. It is an incredible value. I guess with saying that, I am a Pearl drummer now.

I've been playing in a semi famous thrash band working out of NYC, I have never played a sweeter kit than this monster of metal, I've played 25 years in the fast lane of rock n roll and this is my weapon of choice for firing out anthrax-esque thrash!!! I use it, you should use it! Be sure to see us live when we hit your state soon!!! Bringing our carnage and mayhem to your arena!!!

Great Set

By James-rMvHK

from San Angelo, TX

This dumset is awsome. It has the features of an advanced set but can also be used to give lessions too your little brother. Easy to tune drums, good tone, and the heat absorbing shells give it a really clear yet metal sound to them. Definitly worth the money and hord work.

A dream come true!!!

By Cody-Qt1gv

from Oak Harbor, WA

This kit is amazing. I wasn't sure if this huge kit was the right answer since I am just breaking into the drumming world. But I decided that if I want to be able to play the heavy style of music I might as well have the tools I need when the time is right. The price for this kit is the best part. I still had enough money in my budget for some great Zildjians. If you are looking for a great 7 pc. on a strict budget and want some sound quality material. This is the set for you. Thank you Pearl.

This set looks amazing for the price. Any buyer gets tons of features. I've looked through the other double bass sets and this one has the best deal in my opinion. I plan on buying this set as soon as I can. I suggest any metal or rock musicians out there to do the same.

lets be honest

By bob-aHtor

from Kansas City

In all reality, this kit can't be all that great. A person who would give this kit straight 10's or 9's doesn't understand drumming at all. At best this kit deserves 6's. More than likely, this kit doesn't have birch or maple wood, making it obsolete to most kits at this price range. I'm not saying it wouldn't be a good set for the beginning drummer, but anyone who is actually looking for a progressive kit, would decide to stay away from this.

This drum set has great quality long lasting and good tone. If you look at the picture on the internet its not how it looks its just a bit different. Still awesome. Cymbal stands don't move an inch! pedal awesome if you loosen the tension. Pearl Thx for the video. Everybody buy this drum set.!! great deal.

This thing is a pain to set up and the pedals are of really bad quality. It took about 3 hours total to set everything up. The pedals beaters keep hitting my foot when i play fast...I would suggest saving some more money and buying a nice pair of pedals when buying this. Other than the pedals, i love this kit. The heads arnt that bad unlike most heads that come with drum sets.

Amazed...just amazed.

I am just a beginner but this set was more than I was expecting. Even the space I had set aside for it when it was set up was under estimated. It was a little bigger than I expected. I really love the quality, even though some of the reviews say it is a lower end Pearl set. I think it is one of the nicest sets I have ever seen. I always thought that drum sets were over priced, not anymore. This was a really good buy. I expect to learn to play pretty quickly because I don't think I am ever going to leave it!

Stunning Looks, Awesome Sound

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I owned two Export kits, a 1999 rock set edition and a 2000 fusion set, which I had combined together to form a 9 piece (with side snare). Throughout the years, it had provided with much joy, and a few disgruntles. When it came time to look for a new and nicer set, I came across this model, compared and nitpicked between other sets. The quality, options and price were one thing. But the feel and sound were peak interests. The black on black is slick and classy. I had replaced the heads with Evans' and Remo's, and traded in the stock Pearl pedals (which I find more responsive, characteristic, and faster than a pair of Tama Iron Cobras I owned for over a year) for some Axis Longboards. The kick drums now plummel with full on thunder, the toms now resonate with attack and sing with tonality, and the snare is a central figure which cuts through, which various other snare models of higher caliber could not.

Excellent Investment

I have not been a drummer very long, but I am a guitarist in a band and I do know what a good drumset would be. This drumset is 100 percent great. I see it as an excellent foundation to start out on. With some nice Sabian or Zildjians and some Remo heads this drumset is worthy of professionals in my opinion. I think the best features about this drum kit is that one, it comes with 3 cymbal stands, two the floors toms have an 18 inch depth rather that the normal 16, and 3 the snare is 6 1/2 inches deep rather than the normal 5 1/2. These bonuses make it perfect for metal and rock. The bottom line is that if your caught up in deciding to buy this or another drumset of the same price range, this is your absolute best bet.

Wow. This kit is freaking awsome. It has that "I am the almighty overlord" look to it. Nice deep toms for the Metal Gods. It has a very powerful presence. I would definatelly buy this kit. From what I have seen and heard there are more pro's than con's to this one. Set up is kind of a pain, but it is all worth it when you get in the drivers seat. Mix in some Zildjian cymbals and watch the sparks fly.

Don't pass this deal up

By DRUMLINE 09

from Brownwood, TX

This set is simply AMAZING. I got it and I've absolutely loved it ever since. It does take a while to set up and I highly reccomend getting some dampening rings, but it is an awesome kit. I love it. As far as getting a bunch of drums for a bit of cash, this is probably the BEST deal you can possibly find. Plus it's a pearl, undoubtedly one of the best brands of drums. I simply see no flaw with this set. I come from a school where we just make do with what equipment we have. My set is nicer than the school's now! The hardware is awesome, the heads are great and resistant, the shells are nice. It's an awesome set. I highly HIGHLY reccomend it

wow, that's a lot of drums...

By Stapletits

from Fort Carson Colorado

I love this set. It takes a while to set up and tune once you get it out of the boxes, but once it is ready, you can rock to your hearts content. The heads aren't the best quality. There is a loud overtone that I needed to buy O rings to fix. The only problem is that I havent't found one for the 18" floor tom, so it still sounds bad. I love having 2 bass drums. It gets a much better feel than a single drum with a double bass pedal. It is also an awesome deal for the price. So if you have the cash, I would recomend getting it.
