Well I've been playing for 25 years and I can pretty much tune the crap out of anything, all I get is compliments on the sound. bass drums are AWESOME (with super kickers II) and the toms are monsters with remo pins for live, and evans ebony for studio, either way great kit for the money. P.S. do your self a favor and place it all on a gibralter rack so the drum can breath and the bass drums can echo without sending vibrations through the rest of the kit and you'll see what I'm talking about.....HAPPY DRUMING TO ALL!!!

This drum set is just a pearl export...that's it. It's nothing that Joey would take on tour. I'm not going to totally knock this kit, though. For the money, I think it's well worth it. I've been gigging with this kit for over a year now, and I have very few complaints. The snare drum is awesome. I've had many compliments on it from my sound techs. The bass drums have such a huge punch to them. I run an Aquarian Superkick II batter head and an Aquarian resonant head with a port in it. All I can say is "BOOM!!!". I have a lot of issues with keeping the rack toms in tune...that's one of my few complaints. Overall...I like it, but will probably upgrade to a session or masters kit soon.

This is a great kit for the money. Youll need to replace the factory heads though. I put Evans G2 Coated heads on the toms and an ST Dry on the snare. I also exchanged the batter heads on the bass drums to the EMAD2. Those are my prefered heads but you can use whatever you like. The snare is my favorite part of the kit, it sounds amazing. Overall this a great kit, if you want higher quality drums I would suggest a pearl ELX or ECX, or a masters if you can afford it.

This kit is deffintly a kit for a just starting out metal player. The toms produce some nasty overtones. The wood is not the best wood that they could be made out of maple would have been a much better choice. The bass drums are just there, there is not special that pops out of them like you hear in a lot of Joey's drumming. However, the snare is an ecellent piece of equipment. If you tighten that beast up real tight it will give you a nice crack its a very good drum. Other than that the stock heads that come with it need to be immediatly replaced, and overall i was just very disappointed with this kit. i expected more from pearl.
