This kit is deffintly a kit for a just starting out metal player. The toms produce some nasty overtones. The wood is not the best wood that they could be made out of maple would have been a much better choice. The bass drums are just there, there is not special that pops out of them like you hear in a lot of Joey's drumming. However, the snare is an ecellent piece of equipment. If you tighten that beast up real tight it will give you a nice crack its a very good drum. Other than that the stock heads that come with it need to be immediatly replaced, and overall i was just very disappointed with this kit. i expected more from pearl.

    Not bad....

    By zildwicked23

This drum set is just a pearl export...that's it. It's nothing that Joey would take on tour. I'm not going to totally knock this kit, though. For the money, I think it's well worth it. I've been gigging with this kit for over a year now, and I have very few complaints. The snare drum is awesome. I've had many compliments on it from my sound techs. The bass drums have such a huge punch to them. I run an Aquarian Superkick II batter head and an Aquarian resonant head with a port in it. All I can say is "BOOM!!!". I have a lot of issues with keeping the rack toms in tune...that's one of my few complaints. Overall...I like it, but will probably upgrade to a session or masters kit soon.

    Great Kit

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

This is a great kit for the money. Youll need to replace the factory heads though. I put Evans G2 Coated heads on the toms and an ST Dry on the snare. I also exchanged the batter heads on the bass drums to the EMAD2. Those are my prefered heads but you can use whatever you like. The snare is my favorite part of the kit, it sounds amazing. Overall this a great kit, if you want higher quality drums I would suggest a pearl ELX or ECX, or a masters if you can afford it.

    Good

I do not like Slipknot, but I like the drumkit that Joey Jordison uses. It has a great sound and can be used for almost any genre of music. The snare is definitley the best part of the kit. Quality drums at a great price.

    A very, very good kit!

    By Pooc

    from Trondheim, Norway

This kit is extremely good! The sound, the feel, the EVERYTHING with this set makes it awesome. I'm not such a huge fan of Slipknot myself, they got some nice songs, but I prefer other bands instead, so I didn't buy this set in a way to honor them, I just wanted a doublebass kit, with excellent sound and feel. And this is really what I got, absolutely worth the money :)

    Amazed

    By Zil.d.jian7

    from Clackamas, OR

I recently bought this set at my local shop for floor price without the snare and stands. Being a female drummer I looked into a few different sets because I wasn't sure how I would be able to handle them. I tried this one out and I was sold! I started saving up and I can't bring myself to step away from this set. The stock heads don't sound horrible if you're too excited to change the heads right away. But put some Weatherking Pinstripe Remo heads on... oooh baby. When I saw this online I was affraid the logos might look a bit well... plain and fake, they look like exact replicas, I will never play a different set again.

i own this set. im a metal drummer and its exactly what i need. granted im still getting add ons but really who ever stops that.... but the stock heads give the drums a great live sound and evans heads work great too. i personally dont use muffling in these basses i have tried it and you dont get that good alive sound out of the drum.
