I have this snare drum. Promising myself I wouldn't buy anything Pearl as I wasn't fond with the company, I was completely blown away at how it sounded. I thought it would only fit my metal and rock side, but it doesn't. I use it as an auxiliary snare for my jazz or funk stuff. For rock and metal, I tune it up and put in the main snare's spot. Sometimes, I will turn the snares off and use it as a timbale. I would highly recommend this snare for anyone! Absolutely beautiful sound, looks, and quality!

this drum worked for me and stil does...used this drum for primary snare and just couldnt hit it hard enought to get it loud enough...very nice though mic'd situations...i also did not like the size, it seemed a little too small...but the sound was great and if u arent too much of a hard hitter this is great

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
I literally took this snare out of the box, cranked up the batter head (I like high pitched snares), an used factory settings for the rest and it's the best snare ive ever heard!!!

Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
Yeah, I got the 12" because I was looking for a higher tone but not too high. Similar to the tone on the faceless's album. And this snare is so loud! Amazing for blasting, can have a nice ring to it as long as you don't have an evans dry head on it. It does go out of tune easily, but the volume and sensitiveity are worth the trouble! Gravities can be audible live with this snare! price wise, it's excellent. You know how metal drummers are broke, you can afford this snare.
Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
This drum has a little ring, but I kind of like that in a snare. Sounds good with a remo hazy emperor on the snare side and a coated controlled sound on the batter side, maybe a dampening ring or moongel to lose the excess ringing. great product for the price.
Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
I own this snare, its great as a side snare. It gets out of tune fast, but other than that for the money its great. Really handy.
Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
I originally got this as a side snare but quickly switched over and used it as a main snare. It has a very deffinative crack and cuts through everything else, and deffinately packs a punch. ive been using this snare tuned fairly high and i love it.
Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
this snare is great...it is easy to tune but its very hard to find a really good sound that i'm looking for its has alot of overtone but a control ring helps...the throw off works smooth
Comments about Pearl Steel Firecracker Snare:
I bought this to use as an auxiliary snare and that is what it is. This thing does have a nice crack to it and sounds good. It doesn't stay in tune very well. The strainer is not well made. It actually deactivates while playing and turns the thing into a tom. But it isn't a bad buy to have an extra snare laying around.

I'm a active musician for about twenty years and I must say you couldn't get a better cut with the sharpest sword you might find. This drum carries its name well. Awesome piece of equipment.
