This splash is stamped Pulse, but it is a Wuhan! With that said,it is much better than the Wuhan 8" splash that I recieved in my 10"and 8"Wuhan splash pack! I compared it to an A.Zildjian 8",Sabian "Paragon" 8" and an 8" Wuhan. The 8" A.Zildjian has a better over-all bell-like quality. The Sabian is a bit more like a K.Zildian(Beautiful splash!) and the Wuhan 8" is just plain trashy sounding and has lower pitch. The Pulse 8" is somewhere in-between the Zildjian,Sabian and the Wuhan.the Pulse splash does have some bell-like tone, but some chinese tone too! I think for the money this Splash is a give-away.The pitch of the Pulse splash is lower than the Zildjian and Sabian, but higher than the Wuhan 8" splash!
This is diffinatly an improvement over Wuhan, but not quite there with the big 3!
Still a nice,little Splash!
B20 Bronze,hand-cast,hand-hammered,hand-lathed!You are getting a hand-made,B20 Splash for Cheap!Nice sound too!
Decent thickness of bronze. All B20 bronze cymbals' are thin and may not last with heavy hitters'!
These are a little thicker than the origainal "Wuhan"Splashs',but very little!
My"pulse" Splash has some sharp places in the hole,as well as on the edge of the cymbal! This is a quality control issue with all Chinese cymbals'.Need for Improvement!!!!!!!!!
Unbeleivable price for a handmade splash cymbal of B20 bronze! The sound is better than a regular Wuhan 8"!

This is not a bad little effects cymbal. I would have to say it is not a true splash, as it is pretty heavy for a true splash. It is missing the lightness and "airy" ness of a true splash. Mine weighs 194 grams;, most of my other 8" splashes are in the 130 gram range, so you can see that this Pulse is 50% + heavier than most 8" splashes (at least of the several I own). As expected, it sounds pretty clangy with a fairly harsh stick attack, although the tone is reasonably dark and has a bit of trashiness to it.

However, this is a versatile little cymbal. I plan on using mine stacked inside of a 12" china. This would make an excellent stacking cymbal, to put it either on top of or underneath other cymbals. You can add all kinds of cool effects, depending on the cymbal you pair it with, and how tight or loose you have the wing nut holding those two cymbals. You can afford to experiment and use your imagination! Why spend $200+ on those Sabian Mike Portnoy "Max Stax", when this is just as good. You're not looking for a high quality of sound when you are just using as a trashy stacker, right?

You could also buy two of these and use them as mini-effects/auxiliary hi-hats. Here is where these cymbals thicker weights becomes an advantage! I can imagine lots of cool riffs and licks using 2 of these Pulse splashes as Mini/auxiliary Hats.

Overall, this is a very versatile cymbal. As a pure splash, it is average at best, but as a stacker/and or set of mini-hats, this is well worth owing a couple of, and then let your imagination run wild with how to use them!

Inexpensive and useful as an accent. Not as bright of a sound as I would have wished for. You will need to smack it pretty hard to get much volume out of it. Overall, not too bad for the price.

      Comments about Pulse Medium Splash:

I added this to my kit yesterday and I could not stop hitting it. This is the best little cymbal out there. I can't believe how inexpensive it is. and it is LOUD. I can hear it almost as well as my 18 inch crash. It's a perfect accent cymbal. just note that it sounds pretty china-like.

      Wow, what a nice surprise!

      By Casey

      from Indiana

      Comments about Pulse Medium Splash:

I got this as a stupid deal. I already had an 8-inch Meinl splash but I'm so glad I bought this. I was surprised at how great it sounds. It sounds better and brighter than my Meinl. It does have a china sound to it. I wish Pulse made other cymbals. I wouldn't mind getting hi-hats, ride or crash made by this company. They seem to make good quality products that are affordable.

      Pulse splash

      By Z

      from FL

      Comments about Pulse Medium Splash:

This might be the best buy in cymbals on the entire net. I have two, and they blend well with everything on my kit - chinas, splashes, crashes, and all. The sound does have a slight china character to it, but that's easily muffled out if you want. I personally like the sound, it's sort of half tonal, half trashy. Very responsive to sticks, mallets and brushes with nice complexity and a good fundamental. They make good mini hi-hats or aux hats too. Highly recommended.
