Played top line Zildjian new beats in the past and once retired from performing professionally, decided to get back into music with a Christian contemporary/rock band. While B8 crashes simply will not provide the sound I desire, I was given these hi-hats as a gift, and first cringed at the thought. Recorded our second album with them and the drummer at the store where they were purchased listened to a track and said they sounded just like "new beats." Seven years later, still playing these B8s, but a better series of crashes, rides, splashes. Don't be fooled by the price - these hi-hats sound pretty darn good!

I picked up a pack for cheap with these,an 18" crash/ride, and a 14" thin crash. These were the second best thing in the pack, the crash ride being great, and the crash practically useless. These are pitched just too high for my taste. They sound pretty decent closed, but I can't stand hearing them open. Oddly enough, I used them on one recording, and they came across better on tape than I expected. I'd recomend a set of ZBT hats over these(my other pair), much more versatile.

I like them and once I get a little better at the drums, I will be able to give a more extensive opinion of this product
Well...first I have to say that I am not a drum instrument expert. I am a beginner on drums and I bought this because my hi-hat on my electronic drum kit was not working right. I am always been the middle of the road buyer. I don't buy the cheapest sets nor do I buy the most expensive. I like to stay right in the middle.
These cymbals are nice and sound good and loud! They are louder then my drum kit amp, so I may have to buy another amp to match the sound of these hi-hats.
I would reccommend these guys and I am happy with them.
The quality is very good and they take a beating pretty well.

The reason I gave it 4.5s instead of 5's is because I havent really tried any other hi-hats so i cant say they're the best, but these are really good and the price cant be beat by any other sabian hats, unless maybe you put two splashes on your stand.

      Too High Pitched

      By FGPack44

      Comments about Sabian B8 Hi-Hat Cymbals - 13":

Got these around a month ago, and have already sprung for new hi-hats, the sound is way too high pitched for my taste (makes me cringe). They are also very hard to control and keep consistent. If you're just staring out then these are fine, but I wouldnt recommend them.

      Comments about Sabian B8 Hi-Hat Cymbals - 13":

I found these hi hats a bit disappointing. They are too high pitched and dont hav too much articulation. The "chick" has more of a "whoomph" effect like you can hear the air blow out when you close it. If your a beginner I would say these are a good start but other than that you should consider the XS-20 series or the Paiste Alpha series.
