Got this for my Roland TS-6S V-Tour kit a few years ago and its still running solid. It is built like a tank and weighs about as much. The sound is loud and clear - no rattle, nominal hiss at highest volume (all knobs at 11) - which is to be expected from any amp. The subwoofer really does shake the house. I transitioned this over to my acoustic kit a while ago. My Yamaha kit is mic'd into a mixer with leads running out to this amp. I was going to get a dedicated sub for my kit then figured I try this before spending a lot on just a sub. It's perfect as it offers the widest frequency response for any amp in this category -- or frankly any amp even close to this price range. It sounds good as a small PA too - I have run vocals through this, as well as my bass guitar. Yeah, it's not advertised for such use, but in the end, it's an amp with speakers and it sounds amazing no matter what you pump through it.
Solid build - really really solid.
Great price for the quality and diversity offered in this unit.

I bought one of these back in December. I play Zendrum Live, which is still electronic drums since I am using a sound module. I was using a Roland PM-10, and it was working fine, but it just wasn't powerful enough for some stage situations, so I bought this one. Within the first week, I heard a nasty buzzing noise from it, along with really bad crackling noises from the volume controls for the speaker outputs on the back. Thankfully, Guitar Center replaced it. Now, the replacement is showing signs of the same buzzing noise but only on the right channel. So, after speaking with Guitar Center, I was told to call Simmons. Simmons said they will call Guitar Center and they will again, replace it for me. So, 3rd time is the charm? Stay Tuned. In the mean time, my little Roland PM-10 is still going strong as it can, working great as ever. And that one I found on Ebay 3 years ago. I'm tempted to bring this one back and trade it in for the larger Roland PM-30. Simmons, This is your last chance!

This is the monitor you want. I can say it's the clearest sounding monitor I've ever heard. Even at loud volumes. Plenty of options for input signals and balancing volume between all inputs. Worth every penny

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Overall, you can't go wrong with this amp, if you are looking for electric drum kit amplification. It is the best on the market. That being said, I gave my review 4 out of 5 stars only because I wish Simmons (or any other company) would put out a louder amp, but this amp will cut through during rehearsals well enough.

It also works well as an onstage monitor to hear yourself when playing live (assuming you play live with your electric kit). You can run XLR cables out to the PA from it once your EQ is just right.

It does a good job of bringing out both the highs and lows. No complaints of it getting distorted with the low end cranked, which is one thing I worried about. My only wish is that it was even louder, for playing those mid-sized venues that have a less than effective PA system.

It's heavy for its size, but easy to carry if you pick it up just under the top/front ridge. I would definitely recommend this as the best option for an electronic drum amp.

Does what is advertised to do. Has great bass response, mids and highs are good as well. Works well by it self, with extension speakers, or run through the main system depending on the venue. Much better than I expected it to be.

I use this amp weekly and two full gigs on Sundays. Lots of power and a crisp clear sound. It is heavy and awkward to carry. I purchased a cart to move it around to the different events.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

This is such a great amp at an amazing price. I bought this amp back in 2009 when I was getting into e-drumming using a Roland TD4. It could cut through and keep up with my friends Peavy 5150 half stack and a bass player. This sucker is plenty loud. It is also wonderful for other applications. When I switched to an acoustic kit I used this amp to play pre-recorded keyboard tracks synced to a click and the sound was wonderful. I've even used the amp as a powered sub for my home theater system. You could feel the low frequencies 30 yards from the house.

Another application for this amp is as a FRFR system for a guitar amp modeling system. The frequency response is 20-20khz. This unit sounds great hooked up to a Behringer V-AMP or even a classic SR&D Rockman X100.

Bottom line this is a great amp that can be used for much more than e-drumming. Don't let the small speakers fool you...this amp can push a ton of air.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Purchased this after reading other reviews, and snapping up during a sale. This monitor is made for drummers!. Using it with my new portable Roland TD-4KP V-Drums and it sounds TERRIFIC, even with all levels flat. I love the fact you can adjust the dials with your drum sticks. Pretty small size for an amp with such a great sound - think it has to do with the way the subwoofer is built in at the bottom. You can feel air rushing out the top lip when you use the kick.

Note however that this amp is HEAVY. At this point in life, my goal is "less schlepping". The V-Drums greatly assist, but I'll need to get wheels under this amp soon. A friend suggests to drill through and bolt them from the inside, but I'm not sure what that might do to the sound. Anyone try this?

I've tried my V-Drumswith other monitors, but so far this is the most compact and the best sound yet! The heaviness is necessary to get the great sound -- I'll put up with it.
