Got this for my Roland TS-6S V-Tour kit a few years ago and its still running solid. It is built like a tank and weighs about as much. The sound is loud and clear - no rattle, nominal hiss at highest volume (all knobs at 11) - which is to be expected from any amp. The subwoofer really does shake the house. I transitioned this over to my acoustic kit a while ago. My Yamaha kit is mic'd into a mixer with leads running out to this amp. I was going to get a dedicated sub for my kit then figured I try this before spending a lot on just a sub. It's perfect as it offers the widest frequency response for any amp in this category -- or frankly any amp even close to this price range. It sounds good as a small PA too - I have run vocals through this, as well as my bass guitar. Yeah, it's not advertised for such use, but in the end, it's an amp with speakers and it sounds amazing no matter what you pump through it.
Solid build - really really solid.
Great price for the quality and diversity offered in this unit.

I am using this as a drum amp for a set of electronic drums for practice. Nice sub-woofer for a good kick drum sound. I am also very pleased with the cymbal sound reproduction. However, there is a little tinny-ness to the other sounds. It has some nice features. Ability to adjust knobs with a drumstick is nice, and it's easy to add a music source for practice with a track or just having fun. It is VERY heavy, and the wedge shape makes it difficult to carry and move around. I have not used it as a monitor for stage performances, and I'm not sure I would. It certainly has enough volume to use in our practice/rehearsal room and be able to hold its own with other amplified instruments. I bought it as a SDOTD. I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

New to electric drums, old to real ones, the weak link is now my kit, not this amp. It's only going to be used for practice but has to fill a biggish (30'x20') room and keep up with a git and bass. It more than keeps up.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I'm rather new to electronic drums, but I recently got a yamaha dtx532k drum set and it sounds great with this amp. I love separate adjustment for the sub. I plan on using the amp for jamming and I could easily see using it for small restaurant type gigs. It would definitely handle smaller venues. While I always use an acoustic kit for gigs, this amp would easily allow the use of an e kit. The only thing that is bad about it is the weight; it's heavy. That just means it's sturdy and of high quality though.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Very well built amp for the price. It definitely does my Roland electronic drums justice. I was using a 30 watt Peavey Bass Amp, but due to the built in compression circuit, the drums fried it.(expensive lesson learned about Peavey amps) I was expecting this amp to be as loud or louder than my previous amp, but that isn't the case at all. Other reviewers rave about how loud this amp is, but it has to be turned up full volume to equal the level of a real acoustic drumset. I even added two Kustom 35w monitor speakers to get more sound out of it. I don't like running my drum brain and the amp at full volume, it seems like a recipe for premature equipment failure. My Bass amp didn't do well with the highs, but this amp sounds clean, and really brings the full range of the drums and cymbals out, it just doesn't have a lot of punch in my opinion. When I read it had 100 watts for a woofer, and 50 watts for each of the mid and highs, I thought it would be able to shake stuff off the shelves, but everything is still right where I put it! I'm sure I just expected too much for an amp in this price range. I still think it's worth the money I paid for it.

I'm pretty impressed with this amp. Gets VERY loud. More than enough for practice or jamming with friends. I thought I would need 2 for the whole stereo effect but I just put this one behind me, and it's more than enough. Subwoofer puts out decent thump. Overall very good deal for the money!!

I got the 200S to use with my old Roland TD-3 kit in my cramped, converted bedroom studio/practice space. Our drummer loves using my edrums and not having to bring his acoustic kit.

My impression is that the Simmons accurately reproduces whatever signal it amplifies, so get a good brain. It is so nice to rehearse with drums that don't overwhelm and everybody leaves practice without hearing damage. No volume wars!

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

After years of playing my Alesis Performance Pad Pro through various bass amps, i figured it was time to man up and buy an Electric Bass Drum Amp because i was never completely happy with the tones i was getting from the bass amps. I couldn't be happier with the choice i made to get the DA200S, its really the right tool for the right job. It has amazing tone control that will really make your drum pad or electric drum set sound like its supposed to. I play my Performance Pad Pro by incorporating it into my live acoustic kit. It sits just above my floor tom on a stand, so when i need to add in those electric drum breaks for intro's and such its right where i need it. The DA200S is so loud that it has no problem mixing right into my acoustic drums at 1/2 volume. If your looking for the right tool for the right electric drum job, i highly recommend this one.

I have owned this amp for 5 years now. It's great for practice and live shows. I run a monitor line to aux input, so I can control my own mix volume. Killer tone and projection. You could knock down the back wall in most rooms with the volume this amp is capable of. I usually play about 1/2 way to keep from killing my bandmates. Line outs give the soundman full control of my house mix volume. Great full range sound. For the money, you won't find a better sounding, more powerful amp. I also own the DA50. It's ok for practice, but lacks the aux in and line out features that make the DA200 so versatile.

Do your research & you won't find a better more powerful electronic drum amp around. It's very versatile with it's many adjustments and line outs. Complements my Simmons SD1500 kit beautifully. You can fill it in your chest, It's a Mother Thumper. Two great companies, Simmons & MusiciansFriend!

I use the Roland TD-4KP for portable gigs. I've played through others and none can do it justice like this thing can. Also, the 3 band EQ brings out the sound.

Absoutely the best option for any electric kit player. The thing thumps!!! Can handle big time volume, and.the cymbals sound great. Bass drum sub, with dedicated own 100 watts is just epic. Might be one of the best items ive got in a long time.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

This amp sounds great! The size and sound clarity are just right for practice and recording with my Zendrum rig. It would be great for live performance if you use the line outs through a PA or powered speakers. It probably doesn't have enough oomph by itself if you need to be really loud. It is more than loud enough for practice situations. The line outs have a separate control knob and this is a real plus. I've made some great recordings through it. I play through it when I record our band practices and then play back the entire mix through the stereo input. The stereo separation is excellent considering the compactness of the unit. It also works great as an amp for my iPod and laptop. The only drawback is that it is really freakin' heavy. Recessed handles on the sides so two people can carry it would be a nice product update. You won't find any better amp for electronic drums in this price range.
