OVERVIEW

Delivers the volume you need.

The Simmons DA200S houses a 100-watt low-frequency amp with two 50-watt mid- and high-frequency amps. The low-frequency amp powers a heavy-duty 12" down-firing sub-woofer speaker and a specially designed slot port for bottom-end projection. Left and right mid- and high-frequency amps drive 2-6-1/2" mid-range speakers and 2-1/2" high-frequency tweeters.

The DA200S maintains the integrity of the stereo drum signal from input to speakers (including line outs and extension speaker jacks). This provides a broad stereo field that positions your drums at their correct sonic locations, providing a realistic audio experience for you and your audience, whether you're in the studio or playing live.

FEATURES General features

Got this for my Roland TS-6S V-Tour kit a few years ago and its still running solid. It is built like a tank and weighs about as much. The sound is loud and clear - no rattle, nominal hiss at highest volume (all knobs at 11) - which is to be expected from any amp. The subwoofer really does shake the house. I transitioned this over to my acoustic kit a while ago. My Yamaha kit is mic'd into a mixer with leads running out to this amp. I was going to get a dedicated sub for my kit then figured I try this before spending a lot on just a sub. It's perfect as it offers the widest frequency response for any amp in this category -- or frankly any amp even close to this price range. It sounds good as a small PA too - I have run vocals through this, as well as my bass guitar. Yeah, it's not advertised for such use, but in the end, it's an amp with speakers and it sounds amazing no matter what you pump through it.
Solid build - really really solid.
Great price for the quality and diversity offered in this unit.

I bought one of these back in December. I play Zendrum Live, which is still electronic drums since I am using a sound module. I was using a Roland PM-10, and it was working fine, but it just wasn't powerful enough for some stage situations, so I bought this one. Within the first week, I heard a nasty buzzing noise from it, along with really bad crackling noises from the volume controls for the speaker outputs on the back. Thankfully, Guitar Center replaced it. Now, the replacement is showing signs of the same buzzing noise but only on the right channel. So, after speaking with Guitar Center, I was told to call Simmons. Simmons said they will call Guitar Center and they will again, replace it for me. So, 3rd time is the charm? Stay Tuned. In the mean time, my little Roland PM-10 is still going strong as it can, working great as ever. And that one I found on Ebay 3 years ago. I'm tempted to bring this one back and trade it in for the larger Roland PM-30. Simmons, This is your last chance!

I use the Roland TD-4KP for portable gigs. I've played through others and none can do it justice like this thing can. Also, the 3 band EQ brings out the sound.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I got this to use with a Roland TD-11 electonic drum kit, as I was tired of getting a sound not so clear through a bass amp. This definitely did the trick, as it gets a clear representation of the highs and also has nice low end and gets as loud as I'd ever need it. However, that was only part of the fun. Since it has stereo inputs for the drums, I was able to also use it as a speaker for my Boss GT100 guitar effects pedal, allowing me to no longer use a small practice amp for that. It comes out straight forward, as it does at my church when I run out of the pedal to a PA. Cool that it takes stereo input for that. The other thing I tried was plugging an acoustic guitar straight into one of the drum inputs and then running a mic through a balanced to un-balanced converter, through an analog delay guitar pedal, and then into the Aux input. That allowed me to play and sing with surprising clarity. Such a set-up would be perfect for a coffee shop gig (especially if you had a vocal specific pedal to go through). Just so many uses for this thing, it's amazing for the price.

Absoutely the best option for any electric kit player. The thing thumps!!! Can handle big time volume, and.the cymbals sound great. Bass drum sub, with dedicated own 100 watts is just epic. Might be one of the best items ive got in a long time.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Very well built amp for the price. It definitely does my Roland electronic drums justice. I was using a 30 watt Peavey Bass Amp, but due to the built in compression circuit, the drums fried it.(expensive lesson learned about Peavey amps) I was expecting this amp to be as loud or louder than my previous amp, but that isn't the case at all. Other reviewers rave about how loud this amp is, but it has to be turned up full volume to equal the level of a real acoustic drumset. I even added two Kustom 35w monitor speakers to get more sound out of it. I don't like running my drum brain and the amp at full volume, it seems like a recipe for premature equipment failure. My Bass amp didn't do well with the highs, but this amp sounds clean, and really brings the full range of the drums and cymbals out, it just doesn't have a lot of punch in my opinion. When I read it had 100 watts for a woofer, and 50 watts for each of the mid and highs, I thought it would be able to shake stuff off the shelves, but everything is still right where I put it! I'm sure I just expected too much for an amp in this price range. I still think it's worth the money I paid for it.

Comments about Simmons DA200S Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I'm rather new to electronic drums, but I recently got a yamaha dtx532k drum set and it sounds great with this amp. I love separate adjustment for the sub. I plan on using the amp for jamming and I could easily see using it for small restaurant type gigs. It would definitely handle smaller venues. While I always use an acoustic kit for gigs, this amp would easily allow the use of an e kit. The only thing that is bad about it is the weight; it's heavy. That just means it's sturdy and of high quality though.

I'm pretty impressed with this amp. Gets VERY loud. More than enough for practice or jamming with friends. I thought I would need 2 for the whole stereo effect but I just put this one behind me, and it's more than enough. Subwoofer puts out decent thump. Overall very good deal for the money!!

I have been a "pro" award-winning keyboardist for 4 decades (yup - that old) and over the last 10 years, have been buying, trying and selling all sorts of amps for my keyboard rig (featured in Electronic Musician Mag 2/12). Traynor, Motion Sound, QSC - almost too many to admit too and way too much money spent. Looking for an amp - a stereo setup live - that sounds as close to my studio set-up that wouldn't break the bank or my back and I have to say: this Simmons DA200s does EVERYTHING I ask of it!. Real stereo speaker config that reproduces the pianos, organ clones, synths, ever sound I've put through it to date. Still a tad heavy, it's compact footprint and plenty of power makes it a win-win for me whether I'm pushing my complete multi-keyboard, Mac sequenced show or just a simple NORD 1 board "acoustic" show: this is what I've been looking for. YMMV but for this "classic" rocker, I'm done shopping. www.sweetcrystal.com
