Good, but vulnerable to noise.

I bought the Simmons DA-50 to use with a Roland TD-4S.  I was pleased with the sound quality and sufficient volume for practice.  I also liked the auxiliary input and tone controls.  However, I found the unit unusually susceptible to noise, specifically AM radio signal.  Regardless of which cables I used or where i plugged it in, I could here radio signal easily.  I took that unit back and tried another with the same results.  I have five other amps in that same location that have no such problems.  I took the second unit back and bought the Roland PM-10.  I am happy with the PM-10, it sounds better and does not pick up noise.

Just got it a month ago and was wanting to try it out with some different scenarios with my band before critiquing. I'm in a two piece electronic rock band with keys and drums and was wanting something to run my Roland drum pad through. We sometimes have bass and guitar sit ins, so after using it with every possible scenario I would ever play in, I decided its a nice solid amp for practice and small clubs or bars. The bass doesn't quite boom like I would want it to but with 50watts what are you going to do, right? Other than that the highs cut through well, though I do have to crank it to even out with the volume of other amped instruments. All in all its a solid amp that should last and its easy to transport. When you have the rest of the kit to deal with that could be crucial.

Got it a month ago and very happy. Used it for a drum sampler spds, I was surprised how loud this little sucker can go. Definatly can do clubs and bars without being drowned out. Only issue is when I put the input for MP3 I get a fuzz that I just cant get rid of... but if your just playing with your band they have no issues. Like I said, best deal for your money.

I was in the market for a personal Drum Monitor to for my TD8 based system.  I looked at the roland choices and then I was turned on to the Simmons DA50 by the salesman at my local music store.  I tried it out and I was blown away!  This amp sounds great and can be quite LOUD if you need it.  This is a great personal Drum Monitor.  You might even get away with using this at a smaller gigs.  The DA50 is built really well and you can't beat the price point.  20 watts higher than the roland PM-10, but cheaper.  Simmons is comming out with the DA200S which I will be purchasing based on the quality of the DA50.
