I've been looking for a decently priced but quality drumset. I haven't owned drums for 12 years due to playing more guitar. I own a Gibson guitar and Stingray Bass so I thought that a cheap beginner set wouldn't fit my jam spot. I always remember Tama as being a respectable drum manufacturer. I love this drum set. Beautiful hairline gold color, heaty duty hardware, and decent enough cymbals for me at the minute. I added the 18 Meinl crash to complete the set and I think all in all, these drums sound great. Maybe I'll pick up a set of Aquarian heads but I'm sure it'll sound amazing.
I highly recommend this drumset.

Well this is no Ferrari of drum sets its just a begginer so the quality for a begginer is good. But eventually you will want to replace the stock heads and cymbals and hardware
For a begginer this drum kit is great it comes with all the stuff you need to start and see if drumming is for you

Comments about Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals:
For the price this is all you need to start playing right now.I've been playing this kit for 8 months. It's my practice set. I've used it for smaller gigs. I've replace heads with EvansG2 and the cymbals with Sabian Ax and xs20 and it sounds awesome! This is not a bottom of the line drum kit but I would defiantly change out heads and cymbals before playing live. Perfect For beginners and for a practice or even a studio kit. The cymbals it comes with are decent... except for the crash. The Hardware is sturdy but I've replaced everything with Gibralter. If you are thinking about playing, this is the kit you need to seriously consider investing in. You will not be disappointed!

Comments about Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals:
So i bought this kit about 3 years ago as my second drumset. This thing was great cause it sounded pretty good and it was ready to play right out of the boxes. I replaced the stock cymbals and heads after about 3 weeks cause they just werent doing it anymore. Im now looking to replace it because her time is pretty much up, but i would recommend this kit to Beginners/intermediate drummers cause it really is a great kit while it lasts. Check out my band Shadow of the Abyss on facebook and youtube to hear me play this kit!

Comments about Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals:
For the price,, you just can't beat this kit.I added the Tama Iron Cobra double bass pedal,Remo Heads and Zyldjian cymbals and hi hats and i couldnt be happier! The stock cymbals and heads were decent enough to get me through til I could afford the upgrades. After the upgrades,, I feel like it's about as high quality and as professional as you can get. The cymbal stands and the seat have held up very well(3 yrs), But they have only seen the road a few times. So if your a touring musician,, Keep in mind,,,your gonna need to replace things on a regular basis.

Comments about Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals:
I bought this set after having to sell my previous set (ddrum AMX with the 24 x 20 bass drum). I have owned 2 tama sets before (Swingstar which was my first and then Silverstar). If you are getting this set as a first set, you couldn't ask for a better set. I gig every weekend in small clubs and this set is decent. It's a pretty tough kit. The hardware that comes with it is surprisingly sturdy.
If you are looking for great tones or a big sound, look else where. The cymbals are terrible but the drums themselves are good. I would recommend getting this set if you are a begginer or having to settle for something due to lack of money. If you get this set, buy new cymbals. That is the main problem with this set.

- Decent Cymbals
- Excellent Hardware

Comments about Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals:
Nice starter set that me and my little girl will be jamming for year's to come. I was surprised with the big sound I got for such an inexpensive set.I had compared at a lot of other sets but in the end I'm glad I went with Tama. I also was very impressed with the cymbal's I got with this set especially the high-hats.
Comments about Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Set with Cymbals:
Cymbals sounds decent, but I can upgrade anytime. The hardwares are very good for conventional use at home. I bought this for myself, and my 9 yo son is starting to learn. Someone mentioned that the drum head are cheap, but it can be changed easily as well. The quality is head above others in the entry level set.
5 pice set with ride/crash, crash cymbals. Very good harwares. Excellent beginner's set.
Good quality for money, hardwares holds very well without slipping.
Can't be better.

Tama Imperialstar 5-piece with Meinl cymbals
Easy setup. Don't worry if you've never set up a set before there are paper and dvd instructions included. The cymbals are decent for a beginning set. I haven't used the hi-hats but the 16" crash sounds nice and the 20" ride is okay, (the bell is kinda meh). I recommend buying better heads because the stock ones won't last long.
The two main toms and the snare were already tuned and sounded great, only leaving the kick and floor to put together. The cymbal stands are thick and sturdy but did not include memory locks.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this set. My only complaint is that there are no memory locks on the cymbal stands, which is why I gave features a nine.
