OVERVIEW

With Cobra Coil for blindingly fast beater rebound.

The Tama HP900PSW dual kick pedal is one of Tama's popular Iron Cobra drum pedal series. Its ground-breaking "Cobra Coil" pedal spring gives the H900PSWN incredibly smooth and fast response, as the Cobra Coil swiftly returns the footboard to its original position after each kick. The HP900PSW also features Tama's double-chained Power Glide Cam, for increased power and speed. Among other patented technologies are a Vari-Pitch Beater Holder and a Quick-Hook spring attachment. Includes road case.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide Double Pedal:

This is a great pedal with a few caveats. The biggest of which being that it is impossible to center on a 20" bass drum due to the offset "Para Clamp II" which pushes the hoop clamp further to the right than on a traditional pedal. That's not to say it can't be centered, it just cannot be clamped down. Otherwise it will raise the pedal at an angle instead of being flush with the ground.

The other issue I have with this pedal is the cheap plastic nuts used on the spring tension assembly. While the half-moon shaped "Spring Tight" tension rods and the lower, locking action of the bottom nut is genius, the top plastic nut frequently comes loose and introduces unnecessary waver to the entire spring tension assembly. I corrected this design flaw with metal nuts taken off a scrap pedal by a competing brand.

Aside from these annoyances the pedal is rock-solid and performs well. The number of adjustments that can be made is impressive. I just wish I could center the thing on my 20" bass.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide Double Pedal:

I have had these pedals for about two years now, and I have been consistently adjusting them. I just cannot get these pedals adjusted how I like them. I'm not sure what it is, but they feel really slow, like they lag behind. And whenever I do single pedal stuff with them (doubles and triples) there just isn't any power. I can do doubles and triples easily with a Pearl Eliminator that we have at my church. I don't know if it's the PowerGlide cams or what, but I just cannot get the speed I would like out of these pedals. The Cobra Coil is quite a gimmick in my opinion. Great in theory, but i just took mine off because if you use it with the pedal board low, the pedal board will pop up before the beater comes back, which leaves slack in the chain and it'll just slow you down. The left pedal seems to lag behind as well. Don't get me wrong, these pedals are built very solid and have many adjustments, but I just couldn't get them how I wanted them. Not for me.

Great pedals Iv had mine for 2 years now and they've been awesome smooth fast and sturdy. Thou if ur already very experienced and want to go over 220bpm maby this isn't for you, it is possible with this pedal just not as easy as it could be but perfect pedal if you want to upgrade and don't have the money for the axis al2'a if speed is what your looking for. These cobras have awesome power good speed you just open the box and your ready to go if you care to there plenty of easy adjustments to get the feel you want and YES the cobra coils make a difference.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide Double Pedal:

despite my tiny complaints, this pedal is still great. love it.
got the iron cobra double pedal, power glide today for christmas. Right away I set it up. only feature i could complain about is the fact that i can't loosen the spring tension very much. the minimum spring tension is still moderate tightness... However, other than that, there isnt much to complain about. seems like a very sturdy pedal, can get pretty fast on it, lots of power, great carrying case comes with it, tons of adjustability.
quality is pretty high, but my beaters came with a few scratches. very sturdy pedal.
I feel like the Iron Cobra is a great pedal, but could be knocked down price wise.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide Double Pedal:

It overall is a amazing pedal it just doesn't compete with other pedals for the price. The speed cobras can help you out.
Truly the best double base pedal ive really played but I've haven't played any really fast pedals. This pedal is nice and all but it isn't great speed wise. Its a great pedal and I love using it but if you want a faster pedal for the same prize get the speed cobras. They are great.
Great beaters, looks heavy but isn't, and it has soooooo much adjustability which makes you feel move comfortable.
I got these for a lower price and it doesn't seem to compete with the speed cobras.
