      My Final Snare

      By Zen Drumming

Comments about Tama Mike Portnoy Signature Maple Snare:

This snare is multi purpose, I tune it loose for big tone, I tune it tight for rock, I engage the 2 throw off to get MP tone, 1 throw off I get a loose snappy sound which I prefer for my playing. The off-loose-tight strainer design is just cool enough to have 3 sound at once.

It's got a timer on it.

Comments about Tama Mike Portnoy Signature Maple Snare:

I bought this snare about 4 1/2 years ago. I absolutely couldn't have been happier with it 6 months ago. The sound is amazing. It offers just the right tone for my style. I loved it. However if you aren't planning on replacing this snare with another one after a few years then don't buy it. About 6 months ago every lug on the bottom head started falling out. The head wont stay tuned right because of this. The sound guy is constantly working with it because the tone is constantly changing. Then came the snare wires. They wont stay tight either. The lugs holding it in place wont stay tight anymore. And don't think you'll just get it really tight. I turned about as hard as my sister could have mustered and now the lugs are stripped. Like I said for a while this snare is all you could possibly dream of. Once one thing goes wrong though you might as well find a buyer quick.

I own this snare and have been playing for about 8 years this snare is thee best for rock or heavy metal it is so sick! Fat as hell. If you got extra cash and wanna sound like the best grab one and a starclassic performer while your at it. Perfect combo.

      pricey, but very nice

Comments about Tama Mike Portnoy Signature Maple Snare:

An all around great drum. Dual throw-offs offer that spotaneity to be able to get two distinct sounds out of the same drum, even during the same song. Sounds great tuned any way, loose/tight/in-between, and sounds very nice live. Visually, it is very attractive, gloss black with the Dream Theater symbol etched all around it. All in all, I am very satisfied with my new primary snare.

      You're Gonna Like It!

      By Clydo

Comments about Tama Mike Portnoy Signature Maple Snare:

Mike Portnoy and Tama have given us a little piece of heaven. Two different sounds from one snare. She tunes up very well, 8-lug cast rims with Starclssic snares. If you want Mike's sound then buy his snare!
