100% birch shells at a working musician's price: the TAMA Silverstar 4-piece jazz kit.

TAMA Silverstar drum kits deliver the high quality and solid, full sound you'd expect from a more expensive kit. Carefully selected birch wood is utilized for the Silverstar shells, which offer a focused and balanced sound that's welcome in all genres. Its 100% birch shells, triple-flanged hoops and a streamlined Star-Mount system make this the kit of choice for working musicians across the globe.

Silverstar drums combine tradition, excellence and affordability to give you everything you want in a kit. The kit's redesigned Star-Mount System increases the resonance of the drums. Four minimal contact points suspend the drum without touching the shell and provide maximum tone and resonance.

Plus, Silverstar drums feature redesigned separate low-mass lugs. Because the new lugs make less contact with the surface of the shell, they allow the drums to fully vibrate.

    Cymbals and hardware sold separately.

Comments about Tama Silverstar Wrap 4-Piece Jazz Shell Pack:

Don't be fooled by the low price, this is not a "beginner" kit. I bought the kit in Chameleon Sparkle and I have to say they look amazing! I dare say they are more attractive than the high end finishes on my other kits that cost four times as much. The drums were amazingly easy to tune. Five minutes after they were assembled I had them sounding amazing (even with the stock heads). After switching the heads out (Aquarian force tens on toms, super kick II on the bass w/no muffling and a Remo controlled sound/reverse dot on the snare) the kit turned into a monster! The 12" tom is clear and cuts, the 14" floor tom has rumbling lows and the bass can compete with my 22" and 24" drums with out a problem. I play in an original old school punk band and a rock cover band and when they are mic'd up they can dominate any venue no matter the size. I have gotten more compliments on this kit than any other I have owned! In summary, this kit ROCKS!!! Don't let the small size and the "jazz" label deter you from giving this kit a go. You can take this kit from learning your first groove to recording your first album. In a word AMAZING! Oh yeah, thanks to MF for the great service. My new drums arrived at my door only three days after ordering them!

Comments about Tama Silverstar Wrap 4-Piece Jazz Shell Pack:

This is a great kit and you can read all about how great it is in the other reviews, it's all true. I just have some beef with the riser. It sets my pedal back a good 2-3 inches and makes the pedal have to travel much past 90 degrees before striking the drum. This messes with foot technique and general comfort. I don't see any way to adjust it, so I'm ordering a Dixson bass riser to see if that will set the pedal at the right place.

Comments about Tama Silverstar Wrap 4-Piece Jazz Shell Pack:

This kit is a great value. I got the shell pack because I have plenty of hardware, but the tom mount, bass drum spurs, and riser are all strong and well made. The birch shells are of phenominal quality, with outstanding bearing edges. The Indigo Sparkle wrap is tight, smooth, and classy looking. Even with the stock heads, the kit was quick and easy to tune up and provided a wonderful sound. The twelve inch tom is one of the best sounding toms I've ever heard, period, and the whole kit sounds great together.

I got the Tama Silverstar because I wanted a smaller, lighter, and less expensive kit to use for smaller gigs, hosting jam nights, and keeping in the vehicle for those last-minute calls. It turns out that it sounds incredible, and I don't feel as though I'm giving up anything when I use this kit instead of my Ludwig Classic Maples. To be sure, the two sets sound very different due to the sizes and shell materials, but the Silverstar produces a totally professional result.

My biggest concern was the small 18" bass drum, but it has proven versatile beyond my expectations. The riser is adjustable and functions well with my Yamaha pedal. The tuning range is very wide, and the drum sounds fantastic behind the kit, in the room, and recorded. It has gotten great feedback from peers and bandmates.

The biggest cost cutting measures noticable are the thin rims and the presence of only six lugs per side on the 14X14 floor tom. I have to say that these don't affect the sound, though, and the kit is a breeze to tune up.

If you are looking for a small set, either for jazz or simply for the portability, I don't hesitate to recommend the Tama Silverstar jazz kit.

Comments about Tama Silverstar Wrap 4-Piece Jazz Shell Pack:

I've owned many kits over the years and played on more than I could ever remember (many I'd like to forget!). This little Tama jazz kit rates not only as one of the very best, but without question the clear winner in terms of VALUE. The build quality rivals anything out there at two to three times the street price; incredibly well put together! The look of the kit and its fit/finish and component/hardware appearance are just stunning!! The all-birch shells are crazy-good-sounding right out of the box, although Remo or Evans type batter heads are a good idea for ideal tone. Any drummer buying this amazing drum set will be more than pleased. BTW, thanks to MF for SUPER fast service and shipping, they have become the Gold Standard in their industry.

Comments about Tama Silverstar Wrap 4-Piece Jazz Shell Pack:

right off the bat I switched the heads with Remo Pinstripes for the toms/kick. used the stock Tama Powercraft heads for the resonant side. it's 100% Birch shells are full and rich sounding.

the snare, I switched hoops and heads, Remo Ambassoador on top with die cast hoop on top and 2.3mm powerhoop on the bottom. full bodied tone. with that snare "pop".

I like the fact that the Bass Drum Lift IS adjustable. using a DW 5000 pedal. read some reviews that stated the rubber grommets on the Starcast is making contact with the rim of the drumhead. I was able to remove and flip them over. Looking forward to recording with them. this is a great deal
