Fantastic value. So light you can stand and play much longer than a wood djembe, and the tones hold up well in a drum circle. It is a great way to get into drumming without investing too much.
Billed as a cross between a darbuka and a djembe, it plays and sounds almost exactly like a djembe. The rasta color gets a lot of looks. When people ask me what it is, I tell them it's a jambuca (djembe + darbuka, get it?).
Was disappointed the color is not quite like the picture; there is more blue (which appears on the sides in the picture) than anything else. And the bag, while much appreciated, is very flimsy. Still, with the rubber ring on the bottom and the free carry strap, this thing is low maintenance and ready to go.

I received one of these drums for a Christmas gift and have been absolutely thrilled with its tone, dynamac range and overall VALUE. Because it is so light, I can play for hours and hours without fatigue- - my hands complain before my back does, and that's a first! The only weak-link I've found is in the "D" ring which connects the strap to the drum. After a few minutes of use the ring bent, allowing the drum to slip off. A stainless steel split-ring will solve that issue, as well as going to a harder steel fastener on the drum, but that's a fix the user will have to fashion. I'm getting ready to order a dozen of these drums for an Elementary School Latin Percussion "drum line"

These Djembes are amazing. I run several Drum Circles weekly. I had a student show up with two of these drums and was amazed the tones they could get out of a drum with no rope or hardware. It was with a strap and a bag. The thing is so light like less than 4 lbs the 12" you could stand with it forever. Plus being outside at my circles it does not go out of tune. I just had to buy one and am very happy with the product and Value. This will help my classes for ciscles and beginning drumming in a big way. It is easy to play, Cost is Low, weighs nothing and sounds amazingly good as a pre tuned djembe.

The new Toca Lightweight Freestyle Djembe I would of thought not much more than toy but I was able to get great highs and lows with not much effort. Amazing was I think a 12" weighs less than 4 LBS. and it came with a shoulder strap and bag. I can play forever with this drum as it has no weight to it.Great for any circle gathering and very easy to transport.With no rope or hardware to deal with, By far the most User friendly Djembe on the market. Unlike other synthetic shells this one is seemless and one piece. this helps the length of time the drum resonate.
