Comments about Vater Monster Brush:
Recently, I purchased these brushes for my drummer. My hope is that we are in a medium sized room, and our drummer is TOO LOUD!!! Well, that's probably just about everyone's problem. Nevertheless, I purchased these sticks to see if it would help him tone it down without losing his ability to build and decrescendo. Anyway, it worked!!! The volume level is great. The only problem is that about twice a song, the O-rings keep popping off his sticks and go flying, so his tone and everything he is trying to do is changed in second. Then he has to switch, and it defeats the problem. At this point, he is using one stick and one monster brush, so the sound is about 1/2 toned down. Other than that, the product is fantastic.
Comments about Vater Monster Brush:
I'm a guitaist with a love of percussion. So, I get in the percussion when I can or when I feel like it. First of all, I prefer the nylon brushes over metal brushes for the tone AND the convenience. I have come to prefer and enjoy the plastic handles for their comfort. And the larger size are more comfortable with longer use. I also prefer the adjustability of the rings better than bristles that merely slide back up inside a handle. Too much risk of damage. Also I believe the risk of damage is far less with nylon than metal. Others nylon brushes are smaller, and most appear to be well designed and made, but if I lost these, I'd just get another set to replace it.
I haven't tried all brush options available, but I have researched them well. After owning a set of these for a year now, I'm very happy with them. I doubt seriously that any of those others that I didn't choose could outperform these. They provide the sounds I'm happy with & come at a fair price.
They havve taken a lot of whacking, and they have years of life left in them. Well made.
They actually cost slightly more than others I checked out, but the total price, quality, & personal satisfaction make them a great value.
Comments about Vater Monster Brush:
The concept of using these brushes with Cajon I beieve is the most significant issue for any music practisioner at any level. As a percussionist, I increasingly more often use the Cajon / monster brush set-up.
Comments about Vater Monster Brush:
I play the set and originally bought these 'brushes' for playing on my set for lighter slower music, and they worked fine. But, recently, I got a Cajon (Box drum). When I played the Cajon with these brushes, it sounded great! I will say, though, that the grip on one brush wasn't done right and will slip, but I only use one brush anyway. I use a brush in one hand to play the more bass-ish stuff towards the center, and my hand for the snare-ish stuff, and it works great!! I would highly recommend these brushes for any drummer - especially anyone who happens to have a cajon. This is a great buy.
