    Good Upgrade

    By Martin Halstead

Comments about Yamaha 3-Zone Electronic Snare Pad:

Overall, a good replacement for the single zone pad.
This three-zone pad is a good upgrade for the single zone snare pad that comes with the DTXplorer. It essentially allows four sounds, snare, sidestick rim hit, and snare and rim hit together as a rimshot The latter is a little tricky to master at first, as the rim on the pad is not as high as a normal snare rim, and it takes a bit of practice to reliably hit both the rim and the snare pad at the same time. However, once mastered, it allows much better snare fills with rimshots for emphasis.
    No problems so far
    Seems a little expensive.

Comments about Yamaha 3-Zone Electronic Snare Pad:

I recently purchased the DTXplorer and wanted a a 3-zone snare upgrade. This pad offers rim shots, cross-stick and a dynamic pad all for a very affordable price. The next model up costs about $300 more. I'm very pleased with the sound quality and playability.
