This is a good snare for any type of music as far as I have found. I used it in my school's Jazz ensemble on their stage custom set, and its a darn good snare. It has a nice pop to it. The one I used had a Remo head on it (I dont remember the specifics) and it was great. If my heart weren't dedicated to Pearl drums, this would be on my set for sure!!
this a is great snare for intermeadiate drummers. i have had this for about 4 years now and it still holds up incredibly. the head on this snare is really strong and will hold up for ANYTHING. the only problem i have is that it leaves a high pitched ring to it. but other than that i love it.
i have this snare and i can roll very fast on it.
Great snare for beginners or experienced players. Very cheap and has a great sound. It lives up to the Yamaha name.
Quite a good snare drum, nice sound and really nice for concert use.
When I got my stage customs (woohoo) I was bummed out at first cuz the snare drum wasn't all nice and pretty like the cranberry finish on the rest of the kit. Course I got over that real quick once I started fiddling with different heads and tuning techniques.Right now I have an Attack I coated head on top and a Remo Renassaince medium on the snare side. Both are tuned relatively tight. The ring is still there if you don't muffle the top, but the thing is, it sounds good with the ring. It's like the ring matches the tone of the drum and sort of compliments it. Freaky.Very good snare drum.
