OVERVIEW

Step up to Zildjian!

Planet Z is Zildjian's introductory line into their huge array of cymbals. Designed to meet the needs and budgets of developing drummers, they're forged from a durable copper- and zinc-based alloy. They're shaped and lathed into bright, exciting-sounding instruments.

The Panet Z Ride delivers clear stick definition on top of underlying tones that don't get out of control. Use the loud, piercing bell for patterns and accents or play towards the outer edge for a washy, high-volume wall of sound.

I bought an inexpensive set of drums just to start learning on. (I am 57 years old and a guitarist!) I have always wanted to play drums but did not want to make a huge investment. The cymbals that came with the drums sounded like beating on garbage can lids so I replaced them with a set of Zildjian Planet Z cymbals. I did not expect them to be the best but the were a HUGE improvement over the garbage that came with the drum set. If you are a pro drummer or out playing for money you would probably want a better set. But for a beginner they sound pretty good and I don't think they can be beat for the price. I have the 18" crash, 20" ride and a pair of 14" hi-hats and am very pleased with the sound. I may be a beginner but these cymbals made a dramatic difference over the crappy pieces of metal that came with my drum set. If you are a beginner I don't thin k you will be disappointed and they will give you years of good sound.

I recently played this cymbal at a friends house, and it was truthfully only half of what I thought it would be. Sure you get the sound of a ride cymbal so its better than a crash/ride, but whenever i hit it I wanted to stop and try to fix it or something. it is very ringy, the bell does not cut through the mix like I wanted, but if you hit on the cymbal part of it(not the bell) you get a normal sound. OK for beginners, not great. I was going to buy it, now im not. Its that simple.

Planet Z ride...

This is the best ride I've had in a long time. The only one that was better was a ZBT Ziljin but this is still pretty good. The only problem i have with it is the bell. It's alittle soft. But if your a begginer on a budget, BEST CYMBAL YOU CAN BUY!

A little too looooooooong

I got his ride from my dad after he got a new one, I didnt have one at the time, this ride has a pretty decent ping and a little sizzle, I wanted a little more but what can you expect. What I don't like about it is the fact that it rings out for over 10 seconds (not even hit that hard too). I am hopefully replacing this with a Paiste (which I find much better because of their price and sound).

I personally think the only way you are going to get a good ride cymbal sound out of this cymbal is if you use a nylon tip stick. It isnt the greatest zyljian cymbal ever made, but if you are only using it for practice then i highly recommend this cymbal.

a ZBT without the name

First off let me say I am replacing a Zildjian ZBT ride with this one. I thought that the ZBT was the best value ever...wrong. I went to a local store and tested it out...wow! It is the same as a ZBT only a different color prolly a higher content of a certain metal. But it sounds exactly the same besides the bell being a little less defined. It easily worth the money. Not the best for metal, but excellent for anything else. Don't waste money on higher priced cymbals when your on a budget, go with the Planet Z ride!

This cymbal is the best thing you'll ever find for this price! Buy it! I will say it isn't my first choice for a ride but I've used it on my kit for about a month or two now and you can barely tell! I beat the crap out of it and it still sounds and looks great! You definitely want this!

Great

By Mark Benton

I got this because I needed a ride BAD! I thought that I'd buy this to cover, and I'd save up for a new one later. When I first recieved this product, It sounded bad. It was tinny and trashy. But I put it with my set, started a groove on it, and it sounded pretty good. It mixes great. I'm still saving up, but this is a great cymbal for now
