I bought an inexpensive set of drums just to start learning on. (I am 57 years old and a guitarist!) I have always wanted to play drums but did not want to make a huge investment. The cymbals that came with the drums sounded like beating on garbage can lids so I replaced them with a set of Zildjian Planet Z cymbals. I did not expect them to be the best but the were a HUGE improvement over the garbage that came with the drum set. If you are a pro drummer or out playing for money you would probably want a better set. But for a beginner they sound pretty good and I don't think they can be beat for the price. I have the 18" crash, 20" ride and a pair of 14" hi-hats and am very pleased with the sound. I may be a beginner but these cymbals made a dramatic difference over the crappy pieces of metal that came with my drum set. If you are a beginner I don't thin k you will be disappointed and they will give you years of good sound.

I recently played this cymbal at a friends house, and it was truthfully only half of what I thought it would be. Sure you get the sound of a ride cymbal so its better than a crash/ride, but whenever i hit it I wanted to stop and try to fix it or something. it is very ringy, the bell does not cut through the mix like I wanted, but if you hit on the cymbal part of it(not the bell) you get a normal sound. OK for beginners, not great. I was going to buy it, now im not. Its that simple.

        AWESOME!!

This cymbal is the best thing you'll ever find for this price! Buy it! I will say it isn't my first choice for a ride but I've used it on my kit for about a month or two now and you can barely tell! I beat the crap out of it and it still sounds and looks great! You definitely want this!

        A little too looooooooong

I got his ride from my dad after he got a new one, I didnt have one at the time, this ride has a pretty decent ping and a little sizzle, I wanted a little more but what can you expect. What I don't like about it is the fact that it rings out for over 10 seconds (not even hit that hard too). I am hopefully replacing this with a Paiste (which I find much better because of their price and sound).

        Planet Z ride...

        By Zildjian_cymbal_xD

This is the best ride I've had in a long time. The only one that was better was a ZBT Ziljin but this is still pretty good. The only problem i have with it is the bell. It's alittle soft. But if your a begginer on a budget, BEST CYMBAL YOU CAN BUY!

I'm not one of those people who want the best ride no matter what. I just wanted a cheap ride cymbal thats not a crash/ride. I like Zildjian so I bought this and I don't regret it.

I personally think the only way you are going to get a good ride cymbal sound out of this cymbal is if you use a nylon tip stick. It isnt the greatest zyljian cymbal ever made, but if you are only using it for practice then i highly recommend this cymbal.

        Really, very nice

The Zildjian Planet Z cymbal is a great cymbal, because: a)Cheapb)Great quality, Great sound (don't be deterred by the price)C)Works with lots of different types of music (rock, jazz, even hardcore, and many others)d)Works with different cymbals (I use it with Paiste and ZBT hi-hats)e)Good bell (if you use the side of your stick)f)Crashing provides an enormous accent that is unique and sounds really cool.g)Durable (I've been using it daily for 10 months)However, this cymbal stains really easily. Beware of finger prints and palm prints. Stick marks are also hard to remove. Also, the bell sounds bad if you hit it with the tip of your stick. If you hit it with the side, it is one of the clearest sounding bells you'll ever hear.Buy this cymbal. You won't be disapointed.

        Its a good cymbal

        By Nick-nZg5y

        from Clemmons,NC

Well i think this ride is a good ride for country , rock , classic rock , and beach music . I have had this ride for about 6 months now and im an AT HOME ONLY drummer and im not in a band or nothing so this pretty much suits my needs . I have been told by alot of PRO drummers that for what im using it for that i dont need to waste tons of green on high dollar cymbals just to jam in my basement . i MUST agree with them . This cymbal ROCKS !! NOTE: the bell is kinda dull like other drummers was saying on here .
