OVERVIEW

Precise ride tones and dynamics for less. A great all-purpose ride!

Sound grooves and round hammer strikes in a simple circular pattern on the top surface of ZBT cymbals magnify the basic sound of the distinctive ZBT alloy. The ZBT Ride delivers a medium high-pitched tone with precise, clean stick definition.

The bright, intense, high-pitched sound of the ZBT series cymbals cuts through the mix of other instruments. Sheet origin and precision lathing techniques create high-volume projection that speaks quickly and brightly with a rapid decay. Since ZBT cymbals are pressed and lathed from sheets of uniform, high-quality bronze alloy, they are remarkably consistent. The highly polished, brilliant finish looks fresh. Superb all-purpose ride cymbal. Excellent, clean stick articulation with controlled overtones. ZBT-Plus cymbals take Zildjian Bronze Technology up a notch with advanced hammering and lathing, and enhanced sound for versatility, musicality, and professional performance.

For the record I've played professionally (weekends) for 40 some years, but have never been "gear snob" and to like to find playable gear at reasonable prices. In recent years I've seen a significant rise in quality in lower priced items.

While this ride is low in price I find that it is quite playable. It Is a musical instrument and as such can be reflective of the skill of the player. If one bangs the bejeebuz out of it, it will sound pretty unpleasant and trashy. I find it plays best with a llighter touch. I find the ping to be pleasant, higher pitched, and it will still cut and be heard. Keeping the touch light keeps the wash and excessive ringing down. As others have pointed out, it can get a little ringier and washier than a pricier cymbal, but it's controllable with that lighter touch, or some strategically placed gaff tape. I prefer not to do that (tape) myself.

I like the bell...I play it with the butt end and hit harder to get a cowbell clang. It's not subtle in that regard, but that's the way (uh-huh) I like it. Playing it softer gives me a decent bell sound. I use the bells of my other cymbals for some variety.

It records well for me. The higher pitched ping Is my personal preference and it works well for the 50's, 60's and surf rock tunes that I like to record.

Bottom line...of course there are better cymbals that cost more. This ride can be clangy and ringy if you are heavy handed, but it is pleasant and usable with a lighter touch. The tone is brighter than some may prefer. But overall I like it a lot, which was a surprise given the cost. I'd certainly recommend it for a beginner on a budget, and for an experienced player to add variety to his or her cymbal mix.

Hey guys. Ive had this cymbal scince had a different logo, the first zbt logo. This cymbal is ONLY for beginners. It has no stick definition and a really bad ping. It rings alot and after lots of hitting and just sounds really ugly. Instead, try a cheap Meinl HCS of a Sabian if your on a budget. Or, go to Zildjian.com and look for one. There are tabs that have a recording of a quick preview of what it sounds like so theres not any guesswork. If your not on a budget get A Customs.Overall just a bad ride cymbal. There's just no sound definition.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This ride cymbal is an absolute piece of scrap metal. The sustain in this thing lasts like 10 seconds of a gentle hit, and is all ugly overtones. The bell sounds like a cheap cowbell. Don't even thing of crashing it, unless you want to give yourself a case of premature hearing impairment. Even the Paiste 101 ride is better than this.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal is horrible. You could strike it, leave the room for a drink, come back and the thing will still be vibrating! The bell is just as bad, with overtones that are just painful to listen to! Look towards Paiste for a decent beginner ride!

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal definately has more wash than ping, better suited for jazz than rock. To take away the overtones on I put about a 3" long piece of aluminum tape on the bottom of it and it definately helped take away alot of the wash. It is still not the pingiest but is better plus it helps with the overtones. The bell is nice and loud and cutting. Worth the money you will spend for it. I compared this cymbal to the Paiste 502 in the store and preffered this cymbal over the Paiste.

        OK for Begginers

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I have had this cymbal for almost three years. When I got it, I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. Now I realize what it is. It is great for beginers, but as a started playing more, I realized that it wasnt that great, compared to a Zcustom. I just craked it today though it did it job for three years. If you can do it though, go for a z or a custom. Theyre amazing.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I have used this ride on my church's set, and it was pretty good. It doesn't compare to the Sabian B8 ride-if you're thinking about getting the ZBT, get the B8 instead, seriously-The B8 only costs a little bid more but it's extremly worth it. If you have enough $$, go for the Sabian AAX, or Zildjian K custom-much better quality-you won't be disapointed with those. The ZBT ride has an okay ride sound, but has alot of ring. It has a good bell, nice and loud but still alot of ring. Overall, not that bad, but you should get something better.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Ride Cymbal:

I got this ride in a box set with hihats and a crash (which i wrecked :] ). At first it is a great ride- Pretty pingy, high pitched, good bell, and it even made a great crash, but after a few years, mine started cracking in several different places. eventually one of the cracks snaked around and made a circle and a piece of metal came out. ever since its been dark and sizzly. I use it sparingly when i play death metal now, but I dont use it in my hardcore band. If you don't hit that hard, this may be the cymbal for you, but if you do, save up for a cast cymbal my friend.
