The 18" ZBT Rock Crash is the first cymbal I ever bought. I bought it in September 2011 I was immediately blown away by its bright sound and the volume was massively above the cheap brass cymbals that I had been using up until that point, all for a relatively inexpensive price compared to B20 bronze cymbals. The cymbal has a really long decay, so that could be an issue for some, but not for me. With regular weekly/biweekly polishing it'll shine like new always. It worked great for what I play(a lot of heavy metal/hard rock) right up until it cracked 11 months later. I had hoped it would have lasted a little bit longer than it did, though this could partly be due to the difference in how these cymbals are made in comparison to the cast process used for the higher end cymbals. The 2-year warranty offered by Zildjian is great also. Do buy this, but beware that it may crack sooner than you will expect.

I own both the 16" and 18" ZBT Rock crashes. Their sound is close to the quality you would find in the more expensive cast cymbals, but for half the price. The downside to this is that they aren't durable at all. I've owned them for 6 months and the 18" now has a large 3" crack, and the 16" is beginning to do the same, producing at annoying sound when I hit it that sounds like something metal is being held against it. I admit that I am a fairly hard hitter and do play often, but this is quality I don't expect out of Zildjian. The only reason I am giving these slightly above-average ratings, is that the sound quality is not something I can complain about, espeically for the price.

Pretty Awesome

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

I absolutely love this cymbal! it has a great sound and is very loud. Also, riding on this cymbal sounds pretty great as well. However, it does have an annoying ring to it if you play it by itself for the first few months (the ring seemed to go away the more i played it), but who plays a crash by itself? I would recommend this to anyone looking for a powerful crash.

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

Okay, I got the box set with the hi hats and the 16" crash, The 18" crash came with it. But i have to say , I love these cymbals. Theres no need to go out and buy these $200-300 A custom or K custom Zildjians. The only thing i hate is the 18" cymbal . it has no atack and no trash,It sounds like a gong. Other than the sucky 18",I love the 16" crash, Get the 16" version, You wont be disopointed .

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

I had one of these. It sounded fairly good while it lasted. I think I had it for a year. One day I noticed a small crack on the edge. At the moment, I thought nothing of it. Unfortunatly, after another month and 1/2 it was totally unplayeable because the crack had moved almost all the way up to the bell. Like I said though, it was good while it lasted.

      looks can be deceiving!!!

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

"nice looking cymbal would look good on stage" i thought! im afraid that i mad the wrong choice. it sounds like hitting metal trash can lid! seriously it has this weird open sound that makes it seem that half the cymbal is gone. it does not ring out . . . . 2 months of using it and it got a mini crack on the outside. but such a small crack made this sizzle noise that blocked up the actual sound of the crash.!! so i bent the cymbal inside out (very flimsy) and made it into a china sizzle effect cymbal haha. OVERALL just keep away

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

I have had this cymbol for about 6 monthes now and it is absolutely awsome. It is very loud and can take a beating. My band had to get a whole new amp becouse the cymbol completely overpowered the vocals. It does mark easily but nothing a little polish wont get out. This cymbol is great!

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

At first, The sound of this crash was very bright and cut through really nice playing live shows. But as months moved on (And it was clean). It was losing its sound really bad it was almost to the point I would have to mic it in even to use it. So why the bad review? I've only owned this cymbal for about 4 months. No means am I a hard cymbal hitter what so ever. But in that 4 months no there is two nasty cracks crawling up the outside of the cymbal. I would recommend this to beginner's but more advanced drummers I would stay away from this cymbal, Spend the extra few bucks and get some quality cymbals.

Bought this cymbal in march, sounded great for the price, but less than a month later I had 2 cracks each about 7-8 inches long, save up and buy paiste alphas they arent too much more expensive and they sound better and last longer

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

I git this cymbal and hoped it would be a little more... Crashy? I guess. It just sounds more like a really heavy ride. If you want something like more high pitched and loud, you should get a thin crash. I do reccomend Zildjian or Sabian cymbals though. Don't be afraid to spend a little extra for high dollar stuff. It is worth it... I kinda got off subject. This cymbal lasts a very long time and has a very deep tone. It just doesn't seem like a very high-quality crash cymbal to me. Overall: very deep rich sound. Just not my type.

      Ok but not the best.

      By Tyman15

Comments about Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash:

I own the 16" and its a very god cymbal but..., it cracks like 6-9 months later. i bought this in july of 06' and i noticed last week a 2 inch crack.. i play metal and hit hard. so i would say that the zbt isn't really ment fro metal players and hard hitters so i would recommend the Zildjian medium crash.
