      OVERVIEW

Special import edition dynamic mic designed specifically for recording guitar cabinets.

The Sennheiser e609 Silver Dynamic Guitar Mic makes getting killer electric guitar sounds in your project studio or onstage a cinch. The super-cardioid e609 Silver instrument microphone has been specially developed for miking guitar cabs face on and extremely close to the signal source.

Its laterally mounted capsule can get extremely close to the speaker while the supercardioid pattern provides isolation from other signals. The lightweight voice-coil construction and rigid dome diaphragm provide extended high-frequency performance and a long-wearing capsule assembly. Also suitable for miking drums, especially toms.

I like it better than the Shure SM57, but that's just me. I have used SM57s for many years but I don't understand why 90% of the reviews prefer the SM57 over this silver Sennheiser e609 Dynamic Mic.

I think this mic focus only on thing, delivering great and accurate guitar sound, I didn't even need to tweak the EQ at all to get the right tone, although my guitar tone source was already the way I wanted it but I always had to tweak the EQs when recording with a SM57. Also the Sennheiser e609 is easy to place really close to the amp cab without even using a mic stand and is easy to locate that sweet spot that is always so uncomfortable to get when using a mic with a stand.

Moreover. it looks better than SM57 with an old vintage style but yet really lightweight, I'd say half of the weight than the SM57.

I'm comparing this mic to a 57. I often use both for recording guitar, and mix them together. For distorted guitar, it seems to lack the balls that the 57 has. It does a better job than the 57 for the high end, which is good for clean sounds, but in my opinion it doesn't sound that good for the distorted sounds I've used it on. It's probably better as a live mic or maybe a live recording mic if you want to cut down on bleed.

Twice used, Twice happy. Great mic. Lot's of great gain and nice sound across the spectrum. First used for running sound for Rick Trevino. Will be getting another one to cover a rhythm guitar if needed.

Just hang over the top of your amp, position it, tape it down, good to go. one less piece of equipment (mic stand for other types of mics) to bring along.

Comments about Sennheiser e609 SilverDynamic Guitar Microphone:

This is by far the best mic I've ever owned for instruments. Easy placement to find that sweet spot from your speaker. The sound guys love it too. I used an SM57 for years and this is much easier to work with and provides a much hotter and cleaner signal. I play pedal steel and clarity and tone are my main requirements.

This microphone is excellent for guitar amps. Simple to use and cuts through like a dream. I was able to turn my amp down because the E609 was picking up more signal than what I was using before. Very cool microphone.
