Save a few bucks without sacrificing sound quality!

The Shure SM48S-LC Mic is for those who want to step up to the quality of a Shure vocal microphone, but can't fit an SM58 into their budget. The SM48S-LC has a voice-contoured presence boost for that trademark Shure vocal sound, plus a unidirectional polar pattern to prevent feedback, cartridge shockmounting to suppress handling noise, and a pop filter to handle those "p" peaks. An on/off switch makes the SM48S-LC microphone particularly handy for solo and lounge gigs. Excellent for vocals, but also works well on many instruments. This same Shure mic is also available without the on/off switch.

      It's a decent mic

      Comments about Shure SM48S-LC Microphone:

I got this mic a couple months ago and it's not the greatest. I like it; it's nice and heavy and its not too big. But it doesn't ever stay connected with the cable (it always unconnects) so it's not the best mic if you like to be fancy with the mic. But it's definitely worth the money. I do mainly hardcore/rock music(screaming/growls) and it works good. But for lead singing it's not the best.

      Shure SM48

      Comments about Shure SM48S-LC Microphone:

Right off the bat I would like to clarify that this is a liver performance microphone, NOT one that should be used for recording vocals. (For recording it is axiomatic that large diaphragm condensers are the best way to go.) I use four (4) of these SM48's to amplify the vocals of a jazz rock group; they do very well. Little to no proximity effect, not too bassy or bright, they stand up very well to traveling on the road...overall, this is an excellent microphone for background vocals (or lead vocals in a low-expense group) considering it's price. You really can't get much better.(For lead vocals I would recommend using the Sennheiser e822 or e835. They have a very clean and tight sound.)If, for some reason, you have a very bassy or tinny sound try adding some EQ; it's a simple concept, but necessary in any live performance.I would recommend these to any audio technician.

      Comments about Shure SM48S-LC Microphone:

I recently purchased this mic to record vocals (I wanted to get a dynamic mic for the versatility of being able to use it live). I was really dissapointed with this mic...it's not that good at picking up sound (I find that I have to eat the mic to get it to pick up a nicer fuller sound)...also I found that the bass in my voice was just lost with this mic...it picked up the mid upper range, but I would have liked if it picked up the lower fuller parts of my voice also for a more well-rounded sound. I have recorded with a *very* cheap mic before and the quality is almost the same...I am going to try to switch this one out for a Shure SM58

      small step down from SM58

      Comments about Shure SM48S-LC Microphone:

I've used both the SM58 and i own the SM48. i have to say that it is very hard to match the quality of the SM58, but the 48 does come very close. If you compare the prices, it's equal. If you just don't have the money for the 58, you're not sacrificing a whole lot going with the 48. i say go for it.

For the money you can't beat this mic.

      Comments about Shure SM48S-LC Microphone:

I have two SM 58's that I have been using for 25 years. I just retired them with a pair of SM48 LC mics. These mics look and sound identical to the SM 58 at a much lower price.
