Comments about Dean CE Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Resonator Guitar:
this guitar is making dreams come true. i've been playing in an old time band for about six months, and have had trouble competing with the banjo for volume, and this instrument compliments the banjo beautifully in holdIng its own in volume and tone.
the only drawback so far was the action that made freting difficult. but I took it to a guitar shop and they adjusted the truss rod which made it possible to fret and play with a slide.
it sounds great plugged into my amp, and I'm just using my trust old crate 12x12 combo amp. no feedback, just pure beauty. sounds sweet and clean with a slide too. I'm playing an outdoor gig soon and I can't wait to tear it up with my new resonator.
Comments about Dean CE Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Resonator Guitar:
I opened the box, tuned it, played. The action required no adjustment, there were no buzzes or flats going up the neck. The 'unfinished' wood is beautiful, gives it an aged patina and the sound holes are not typical f-holes, stylish and different. This plays easily and has a great acoustic sound. I play this now as a slide either standard or G tuning, standing with a finger slide, brass or glass both heavy, or seated with a lapsteel bar.
The lipstick pick up sounds like a lipstick should, from warm and mellow to crack'in.
The workmanship, fit and finish are flawless.
I got way more insturment than expected. This is my 2nd Dean and their QC is topnotch.
Enjoy.
(note: the MF standard acoustic case fits beautifully. I put a towel under it to take any strain off the neck.)
Amazing quality and tone, good neck for slide or finger picking
Great wood-fit and finish. Solid electronics and pots.
Be happy that China is making insturments, they are excellent craftsmen. Don't implode...I'm a collector and have all the Gibsons, Fenders and miscellaneous guitars to fill a small warehouse.
Plus amps keyboards PA mixing boards at my age I get to keep them.If you can honestly look at a Gibson guitar with a $150,000 price tag your crazy and you've beenhustled. The Dean is both acousticlly, electrically and esthectically a pure winner.
Comments about Dean CE Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Resonator Guitar:
I got my first Dean resonator cutaway and immediatley noticed a consistent 5th string buzz from open to at least the 8th or 9th fret. Since I felt it was not typical of a new set of strings, I sent it back. Then second guitar I received (same model), had the same problem but it was the sixth string this time. I couldn't resolve it by raising the action, and this buzz ranged from open all the way up the neck. Whatever might be done to the bridge to resolve it, I felt like I shouldn't have to considering I bought it brand new. So I'm going with a different brand. Not too impressed.
Comments about Dean CE Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Resonator Guitar:
I was looking for an Electric Resonator guitar to play live onstage and I found an excellent one. The 'Dean' electric resonator is an amazing guitar for the price. Right out of the box the guitar sound was awesome without any string buzz. I also really love the natural finish and design of the guitar.. The Grover tuning pegs hold perfect tune with the strings and the Rosewood neck has a great feel. Finally I was very happy when I plugged the guitar into my Fender amp, the sound was warm and the tone was excellent. It was very hard for me to buy a guitar online without ever seeing the guitar or playing the instrument. I really have to say that this guitar will make anyone happy! I now have 10 guitars and this baby is one of my favorites!
Comments about Dean CE Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Resonator Guitar:
I play slide and fingerpick chords at the same time. I put the slide on my fourth finger and use slide technique for accents, bridges and passing notes. Unlike another guitar (National tricone), this can be done without harshness and overpowering the music. I use it in acoustic and electric modes. The pickup holds it's own very well. It's not noisy and has good tone. With a little reverb on your amp, watch out! I even venture to say that with the tone and volume settings set correctly that you can get some of those 'fat guitars' tones offered by older Gretches. By the way, if you want a case (I did),the one that fits perfectly is the one offered here, product number 545173. I also like the dull finish. Don't worry that it's made in China, the quality is definitely there. I had to retighten the screws on the input jack plate but that's it. I use Martin Bluegrass strings, put those on right away and use a glass slide.
