The Fender FB300 pack is a great value for what it is. It is not a fancy banjo, and the materials are very basic, but it is a nice inexpensive way to get into playing. I would recommend this banjo to anyone who wants to start learning to play the banjo. If you like the instrument, upgrade, if you don't, at least you didn't invest too much.

Comments about Fender FB 300 Banjo Pack:

this is a good starter banjo for the price. the strap connectors broke the first time i put the strap on but i will deal with that later. the strap itself is very cheaply made and feels terrible when over your shoulder but again good straps are not that expensive to replace original. besides the problems with the strap i am quite happy with it as it does hold tune for long periods and sounds quite good for a beginners banjo. it is a nice looking banjo and is quite easy to play and the pack includes the banjo, tuner, thumb and finger picks, soft case and instruction manual.

Comments about Fender FB 300 Banjo Pack:

Found this on the Stupid Deal of The Day. Been looking for an affordable Banjo to learn how to play. I could not pass up the special price on this. Upon opening the box, it was packed very nicely. Really loved all the extra's fender thought of to put in this pack. I have a friend who sets up instruments and was very happy I did. He actually had to redo the stock setup all over and is highly suggested to do this if you get one. After that this banjo came alive. It has a very good resonance and plays nicely. The quality of this Banjo is surprisingly very good in my opinion. There were no marks on this and the wood finish looks great. Once setup this is one great buy to recommend.

Got this as a deal of the day and was quite happy with my purchase. Great bang for the buck. Of course it needed some setup, but all the tools were included to do it. Just needed the internet for some reference and everything plays and sounds great.

Comments about Fender FB 300 Banjo Pack:

Easy to setup and get started. I would've skipped the starter kit and paid for only the banjo had it not been one of the closeout deals. The 'kit' supplies are of little use, there's better info available on the internet for beginning banjo than what is included. But all in all Not bad for the price though I doubt I'll ever be a 'great' banjo player. This one stays in tune fairly well and has a nice ringing banjo tone that has provided weeks of banjo fun so far! I'd recommend getting one.

Comments about Fender FB 300 Banjo Pack:

I have been wanting to start messing with a banjo for some time. I thought that something that said Fender on it, for the price, would be a good bet. This is a nice, well made, banjo, especially for the money. The only problem is, if you want to call it that, is there are no instructions to set the thing up once it arrives. It does come with the necessary tools. The head was loose, the truss rod was loose, the bridge not on it. The nut for the 5th string was either too tall or too short causing it to buzz on the first fret open. All of the setup information is readily available on youtube or elsewhere but I think there should be a pamphlet with the instrument. I adjusted the head, checked the tightness of all fasteners, placed the bridge, set the intonation and adjusted the truss rod. That's when the 5th string buzz became apparent. I just pulled the little nut out and carefully trimmed a bit from the bottom and reassembled, problem solved. I am only giving this thing 4 stars because of the setup. It is an amazing instrument, for the price, once properly set up.

Comments about Fender FB 300 Banjo Pack:

I ordered this banjo and it arrived on time. Upon opening the first one, the headstock popped off completely before I even got it out of the final foam sheeting it shipped in. The break was semi clean, truss was exposed. I was very disappointed, mostly for the nato/mahogany wood that was broken. I called them that evening and they were fast, courteous, and had one shipped out the next day. It arrived before the end of the week, in tact.

In terms of the actual banjo, it looks fantastic. The mahogany is beautiful, and although it has no mother of pear/abalone inlay anywhere, which I tend to love, the simplistic aesthetic is very nice. It has tortoise shell binding on the back body and along the neck, which you can't see in the pictures. The tuners are a semi-opaque pealoid plastic material, but the machines tune nicely and they seem sturdy for not being metal.

The bracket to the left of the tailpiece dropped out when I held the back of the banjo up. It was missing an end cap to keep it screwed on. I'm not sure if this is a factory mistake or just the way it is, but it doesn't seem right. All the others have one.

The accessories that came with the banjo pack are pretty good. The clip on tuner is very nice and I might buy some more for my other instruments. Easier to read than a pedal in my opinion. Comes with a nice philips/wrench tool, allen wrench, finger picks. The book is very limited. For some reason it has a Deering banjo in one of the diagrams which I thought was funny. It's a Fender book. Anyway, the only thing I didn't like was the strap. It's the classic Fender strap, but the shepherd hooks on it are annoying- metal on metal. This banjo has actual strap hooks so you don't have to use the brackets on the drum. But I'm definitely getting a Souldier Strap for this, I highly recommend them. Company out of Chicago that makes custom straps out of vintage materials and recycled seat belts. Their banjo straps have leather button tabs.
