        Chromonica 260

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

I've been learning diatonic harmonica for almost 4 years when I decided to get a chromomatic too. While I'm a relative novice on the chromatic, I do like this model. I like the tone. Learning the scales has been a little complex at first, but I'm getting there. This is a good model of chromatic to start with.Because it's only 10 holes it lacks the second half of the third octave (of a 12-hole chromatic) but I dont go up to the very high end anyway. I'm pleased with this and I enjoy learning it.
I've blown out a bunch of Hohner diatonic harmonicas. This one cost a lot of money and I'm worried that a reed is going to give out soon, rendering the whole thing useless. I hope this doesnt happen, but I do honestly think that Hohner could make longer-lasting harps if they chose to. they just enjoy selling you a new one. I fear this for the chromomatic too.

        Hohner 260

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

While new is a little high, the value is worth it.I found mine on e-bay like new and WOW what tone it has. I have a Hohner 64 and the round holes are better than square but you get used to them.. I use an Amp with many features and the 260 sounds great with reverb or trembo. While not cheap in price, it is worth every penny. Quality it has.

        sounds great, cheaply constructed

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

I purchased this chromonica in November 09, and its taken until now, two months later, to get all the notes to play. Today the "spring",if you can call it that, snapped off inside the comb and is now not functionable. I own several Hohner products, including another chromonica, melodica, and blues harps, and am satisfied with all except this one. It may cost me more to have it reconditioned than to just order a new chromonica. Other than a cheap spring, it has a great tone, however. What to do? Very disappointing. Buy a Hohner 64 chromonica.

        Solid instrument

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

I purchased my "Chromonica" over 25 years ago, and other than the slide getting sticky a few times, it hasn't failed me. Some dents in the covers from too many drops into and out of coat pockets, suitcases, bags and packs. The comb is solid. The return spring still "snaps" the slide back. It can be a bit tough on the lips for long playing, and at times I'd wished I had a 12 hole one, but only for a moment. Not sure how long a harp should last you but this one should have at least 25 more years in it still.

        Very beautiful harmonica

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

This harmonica is wonderful. The size is small that it can fit easily in your pocket. I carry it anywhere I go. But it's kinda rough on the lips because the mouth piece is thin and square. You might try 280 or 64X if the lips problem occurs. Otherwise, I would love to get hohner 260, it's so cool for a chromatic harmonica with this size.

        The best to carry

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

This is a great lil' harmonica to carry around. It has the same construction as the 270/48, but a bit smaller. It is fully chromatic and covers 2-1/2 octaves going up from middle which I can play about 98% of my songs. It has a sweet sound and good volume, which is why I will not gripe about the wood comb.

        My fave tag-a-long

        Comments about Hohner 260/40 Chromonica:

Nice range (Same as the 270/48 minus the two highest-pitched holes) and very portable. My only complaint would be that the mouthpiece is a little rough... but I am used to the Super 64 so I may be spoiled!
