A blues harp designed to make playing and note bending easy for entry-level players.

The Hohner Blues Bender P.A.C. professional harmonica gives everybody access to the bluesy notes needed to make any blues or rock riff complete. The Blues Bender P.A.C. harmonica's Patented Acoustic Covers are based on Hohner's famous Marine Band harp but with thicker-than-normal reed plates for consistent tone and durability.

Originally patented by Jacob Hohner in 1897, the special shape of Blues Bender harmonica's cover increases the volume of air between the reeds and coverplates which—when thrown into vibration and vented through the special side vents—means greater volume and projection. The Blues Bender harp is extremely airtight between the mouthpiece and the reed plates, for easier note bending and enhanced expressive playing.

Professional harmonica player Li'l Ronnie (of Lil' Ronnie and the Grand Dukes) rated the Blues Bender P.A.C. as his top choice for ease of playability, note bending, and consistent volume and tone when compared against other models.

Here's what harmonica players like Li'l Ronnie and others have had to say about the Blues Bender P.A.C.:

"The Blues Bender P.A.C. is a killer value." - Li'l Ronnie of Li'l Ronnie and the Grand Dukes.

"The Blues Bender P.A.C. is the perfect harp to learn on and we expect it to be a very popular addition to our product line," - Scott Emmerman of Hohner, Director of Marketing and Sales.

"A fantastic first harp to develop your chops on." - Roger Edsall of the Bad Influence band.

I'm primarily a guitarist, and this is my first harmonica since I was a kid. I've had it exactly one month today and am already able to blow a credible blues chorus in G. I'm able to make all the bends, though blow 10 still needs practice. I'm also able to overblow 4, 5, and 6 but not yet reliably or at tempo. The tone is very good for some notes and not so great for others, though I'm not yet sure how much of that is just me. The Blues Bender has certainly met my expectations.

The Hohner Blues Bender is a sub-par product for the price you pay. I purchased one in the key of G, and was instantly impressed with the fullness in the sound of a few chords, but when I went into a couple of lead lines, I found that there were a few dead reeds in the lower part of the register. I though maybe they just needed a "warming up," but this was to no avail. The three draw does bend pretty easily, but is very slow in action. I am on a serious budget, and decided to save myself fourteen bucks by not going with a Marine Band or Special 20, and am now in serious regret as I will have to wait another month to purchase one, with this twenty bucks down the toilet. Melody lines from four to eight are pretty smooth to its credit, but if this is all I wanted I could have gone with an Ol Standby or just kept playing my old Big River. Just do yourself a favor and spend ten or fifteen more and get a real instrument.

Sounded great at first. Not the "cheapest" harp, but did not last more than 20 shows at "light use"(LESS THAN 40X) before reeds went sour. Junk.

I bought one in the key of D about 2 years ago and it's very nice. Easy to play, clear and rich tone, etc. Obviously not as good as a Special 20 or something but still pretty consistent.

Comments about Hohner Blues Bender P.A.C. Harmonica:

These are pretty low quality for the price point. I bought this harmonica in a few different keys and within a few months of playing, they all were out of tune and blown out. I definitely recommend paying the extra $ or so and getting the Marine Band if you want something that will last, plus the MB has better projection and tone.

no better than cheaper Chinese made harps

Comments about Hohner Blues Bender P.A.C. Harmonica:

Although the Blues Bender is almost double the price of Hohner's other Chinese made harmonicas, the Blues Bender is really not any better. The quality is about the same. In fact, I think the Old Standby has a louder and fuller sound. I would pass on this overpriced Chinese made model, and instead go with one of Hohner's lower priced models, with the Old Standby being the best of the lot.

              OK Harp I guess

              By Deacon Billy-Z7r7F

              from Tulsa, OK

Comments about Hohner Blues Bender P.A.C. Harmonica:

I own a couple of these harps and have given a couple of more away. These harps are playable. They will usually play all twenty notes. But, they are a Chinese import by Hohner and sound like it. Don't expect the typical Honer tone. I also own several Special 20's, Marine Bands and Crossovers and a working set of Suzuki Bluesmasters, and Delta Frosts. The BB is not even close to being in the same league with any of those haprs. If you need a cheap harp in an odd key, something to give to a beginner or something to leave lying around in your car it's a fair value. Otherwise, spend ten more bucks and get better quality harp.
