Great Hohner Product (for the average person)

I picked up this Hohner holder from my local music shop today. GREAT PRODUCT! After playing both harmonica and guitar for sometime now it seems like a nobrainer to mix the two together. The holder it self seems very durable and feels very comfortable around the neck, HOWEVER I am much like a giraffe with a long neck. After a half an hour of playing my neck got sore from bending forward. However for smaller (normal) people it would be great. Easily adjustable and stays in place. I would suggest putting rubber or something soft where the harmonica sits because it leaves indents shaped like a circle in the bottom of the harp. As for road testing its yet to be seen but it is fairly in expensive to replace at around $25CAN. Overall cant go wrong with the easy springs and ergonomics (for average people) of this Hohner harp holder. Great product to accompany your guitar playing!

Could be better

To start this review off, I play Lee Oskar harmonicas. This holder was not made for them. The harp would be pushed forward some, which meant I would have to bend my head forward to play it. When I did this, the holder would shift forward due to its design, and I would have to manually adjust it. This makes this holder annoying to use. The little holders they put on it are too long to touch the harmonica, and are just a pain. Also, this thing is HEAVY! After only about 10 minutes of use, my neck started to hurt. Another gripe is that 10 hole harmonicas look goofy in this holder. This thing is massive and heavy, and looks silly with a small 10-hole harp in it. For larger harps it'd be decent, but for 10-holes get something else. I  bought a Lee Oskar holder to replace this and it works much better (probably because I use Lee Oskar harps). For the money it is okay, but there are better options out there.

Gets the job done. I put some athletic tape around the area where the harmonica sits in order to provide traction and keep the harp from slipping around or falling out. Still a good product that works.

Not for diatonic harps

I have owned this rack for several years and many gigs.  It is a high quality rack that I will probably continue to use for years as it shows no sign of wear and tear yet.  However, Hohner Special 20 harps (and probably most other diatonic harps), which are what I usually play, are way too small for it, and are prone to shift or even push out the back.  I have had instances where I've had to leverage the mic to keep the little sucker from falling out in the middle of a jam.  Tricky.  I wouldn't recommend this rack for any harp that is much less than 4.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide.  For larger harmonicas, it is absolutely worth the money.

Workable

Little experience playing harmonica, and none with a holder, I got this to try.  It works fine, though I did have to adjust to it, somewhat.  It is not uncomfortable, but when folding it up I have to bend forward slightly to play well to make it work best.  A good deal, maybe a higher end model with a neck adjustment would be an improvement.
