Testimonials about Hohner's Marine Band Crossover
"This Crossover is an exceptional harmonica. I have to say that this is without any doubt the best playing out of the box harmonica that I've ever had my hands on and my mouth around." Joe Filisko
"It's a notable substantial upgrade to the diatonics I have played. It played very well. That's a big deal, because I trusted it. Tuning is superb. Responsiveness is excellent." Joe Filisko

"These are a step up in basic quality out of the box. They are very close to customized harps that I've played." Howard Levy
"I love the playing feel of bamboo combs. The Crossover is exactly what I feel a modern Marine Band ought to be." Steve Baker
"As a Marine Band player for 40 years I really love the Crossover and am proud to have been closely involved in its development from the very beginning. The first time I played the very first prototype with a bamboo comb I was blown away by the sound, volume, response and playing feel and thought "this is it!" I own a lot of custom harps, but this is what I use on stage because it's tough, reliable and both plays and sounds great." Steve Baker
"Love the Crossover!" Mickey Raphael
"Great job on those Crossovers!!!!" Rick Estrin
"The new Marine Band Crossover is a terrific harp in every aspect: beautiful sealed bamboo comb, strong attractive cover plates and, most importantly, well tuned, with good volume and projection, and smooth responsive playability from bottom to top. It also comes in a handy and unique zippered case. I've made it my personal harp of choice. Another winner from Hohner!" Jerry Portnoy
"It's beautiful. It is nice right out of the box. Great tone. Great feel. I'm loving it." Phil Wiggins
"I tell you what” that's great! I really dug it." John Nemeth
"I like the comb a lot, how it felt, how it responded, how it sounded. The feel and response is closer to a custom Marine Band." Dennis Gruenling
"The new Crossover is a great instrument! I've been playing professionally since 1979 and have tried all the models and this is the best out of the box harp yet." R.J. Mischo
"The Crossover is Hohner's best harmonica to date . . . great feel, playability and most importantly sound!" David Barrett
"For those who want the great sound of our forefathers, but the playability of a modern designed harmonica, then put Hohner's new Crossover harmonica at the top of your shopping list." David Barrett

I received my Marine Band Crossovers today. C & F keys. All I can say is WOW, classic bright Marine band tone, stronger cover plates than original 1896 and more opened up in the back. They are very well tuned and gaped and are as air tight as my customized harps. This is the best out of the box harp I have ever purchased. I have Seydels, Herings, Suzukis, Oskars, Bushman and of course Hohners. I love em all but this is the first time I have been impressed enough to write a review. Thanks Hohner.
This is a darn good harp. My first impression was that this is an incredibly loud harp but not objectionably so. It has great volume and projection without having to be forced. It is fast, easy blowing and confidence inspiring. But, this harp is not for everyone. It is too expensive for a lot of harp players who could get very good to great results out of lower priced harps. The MBC addresses quality problems Hohner has in its lower priced products and is aimed squarely at the high end harps like Seydel and the aftermarket custom Hohner harps. My best description of playing the MBC is to say that it is a lot like playing very good lower priced guitars which can sound good or even great and then playing a well done Gibson or Martin. There's just something extra there. That is the appeal of this harp.
Amazing response, volume difference is amazing. I never thought the comb had much to do with tone and volume and this harp proves me wrong. The tuning was spot on, I tested notes on a strobe tuner. All of the hype is true. The crossover meets and exceeds my expectations. Comb is comfortable on the mouth, weight is good, cover plates have an outstanding design and feel which I believe help very much with the tone and volume as well. I have a 50's marine band in mint condition and these cover plates are nearly identical in design and feel. The response is amazing. It may not make much sense but this harmonica is very 'fast' playing compared to others. Notes jump out and jump out QUICK. No need to play so hard, it's all there.Like everyone who has tried it has said, I firmly feel this is the best out of the box harmonica I have ever played. Believe the hype, Hohner has really 'done it' with the crossover.WOW
This is by far the best Diatonic harp Hohner has produced so far in my opinion. I've played the different types of Marine Bands for 35+ years.Plus Customized them. This my Harp friends is the Holy Grail of all Marine Bands. I salute you Hohner. Thanks for comming thru for us!
